Method of forming aperture plate for electron microscope [PDF]

open access: yes, 1974
An electron microscope is described with an electron source a condenser lens having either a circular aperture for focusing a solid cone of electrons onto a specimen or an annular aperture for focusing a hollow cone of electrons onto the specimen.

High Entropy Wide‐Bandgap Borates with Broadband Luminescence and Large Nonlinear Optical properties

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
High‐entropy rare‐earth borates exhibit excellent nonlinear optical and broadband luminescence properties arising from multi‐component doping, chemical disorder, increased configurational entropy, and increased lattice and electronic anharmonicity. This formulation enabled us to obtain a large, environmentally stable single crystal with 3X higher laser‐

Dual‐Interface‐Dominant Cathode Architectures Enabling Fast Sulfur Redox and Stable Interfaces in All‐Solid‐State Li‐S Batteries

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
An optimized carbon host nanostructure enables a dual‐interface‐dominant architecture in sulfur cathodes of solid‐state Li‐S batteries by selectively forming sulfur|carbon and sulfur|solid electrolyte interfaces. This tailored interfacial configuration accelerates sulfur redox kinetics by establishing enriched Li+/e– transport networks, while ...

Phase Transitions in a Dusty Plasma with Two Distinct Particle Sizes

open access: yes, 2005
In semiconductor manufacturing, contamination due to particulates significantly decreases the yield and quality of device fabrication, therefore increasing the cost of production.

External Reflection From Two‐Photon Laser‐Printed Micromirrors Enables Photomechanical Actuation at a 90° Incident Angle

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Light reflectance increases along incidence angle and transmittance significantly drops around 90‐degree incidence angle. Here, we report two‐photon laser printed micro mirrors that redirect the skimming light beam into normal light absorption. Using this technique, light‐driven micro walkers and grippers are demonstrated by using grazing incidence ...

Instrumentation for Measurement of Gas Permeability of Polymeric Membranes [PDF]

open access: yes, 1993
A mass spectrometric 'Dynamic Delta' method for the measurement of gas permeability of polymeric membranes has been developed. The method is universally applicable for measurement of the permeability of any gas through polymeric membrane materials.

Bio‐Inspired Magnetically Tunable Structural Colors from Elliptical Self‐Assembled Block Copolymer Microparticles

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Cephalopod‐inspired photonic microparticles with dynamic structural coloration are fabricated via confined self‐assembly of linear block copolymers into ellipsoids containing stacked lamellae. Embedded superparamagnetic nanoparticles enable rapid magnetic alignment, restoring vivid, angle‐dependent color.

Intrinsic Nanopore‐Assisted SnP2S6 Memristors With Ti Ion Dynamics for Compact Logic‐In‐Memory Hardware

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Tin hexathiophosphate memristors leverage intrinsic nanopores together with a guided filament formation strategy to regulate titanium ion motion and switching behavior. The devices support reliable nonvolatile memory and reconfigurable logic‐in‐memory, demonstrating 14 Boolean logic functions in a single cell.
