The frequency characteristics of accommodative microfluctuations for central and peripheral zones of the human crystalline lens [PDF]

open access: yes, 1990
Temporal variations in the nominally steady-state accommodation response can be characterized approximately by two principal regions of dominant activity: a low frequency region (LFR less than 0.6 Hz) and a high frequency region (HFR greater than 1.0 Hz).

DEVELOPMENTAL DEFORMITIES OF THE CRYSTALLINE LENS. [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of the American Medical Association, 1908
In the observation brought forward in this paper I propose to show how several forms of congenital cataract are the outcome of arrests of development in the lens at different stages in its formation. I am, naturally, aware that to attribute a condition to an arrest of development offers only a partial explanation of its etiology, leaving the cause of ...

Single‐Chromophore Homojunction Organic Solar Cells: A Path to Simplicity and Efficiency

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
This perspective discusses how the intrinsic optoelectronic properties of organic semiconductors, their molecular packing in the solid‐state, and internal energetic gradients within a device can enable free‐charge carrier generation in homojunction organic solar cells.

Transparent Perovskite Light‐Emitting Diodes with Conductive Oxide Top Electrodes

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Transparent perovskite light‐emitting diodes (TrPeLEDs) enable simultaneous display and transparency, expanding application possibilities. Using a metal oxide buffer layer and pulsed laser deposition, TrPeLEDs with diverse compositions and architectures are demonstrated.

Generating Unconventional Spin‐Orbit Torques With Patterned Phase Gradients in Tungsten Thin Films

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT A key aim in spintronics is to achieve current‐induced magnetization switching via spin‐orbit torques without external magnetic fields. For this, the focus of recent work has been on introducing controlled lateral gradients across ferromagnet/heavy‐metal devices, giving variations in thickness, composition, or interface quality.

A new curved vitreous cutter for managing phakic retinal detachment with proliferative vitreoretinopathy

open access: yesIndian Journal of Ophthalmology, 1998
In the presence of proliferations anteriorly, adequate excision of the vitreous base is essential. To enable a good vitreous base excision, removal of lens often becomes necessary as it may be damaged while attempting to remove peripheral vitreous.

Optical Coherence Tomography Reveals Sigmoidal Crystalline Lens Changes during Accommodation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
This study aimed to quantify biometric modifications of the anterior segment (AS) during accommodation and to compare them against changes in both accommodative demand and response.
