Crystal field of octahedral Yb3+ centers in a CsCaF3 crystal
Physics of the Solid State, 1997The phenomenological crystal-field potentials of cubic and trigonal Yb3+ centers in a CsCaF3 crystal have been determined from the experimental energy-level schemes. These potentials are compared with the potentials of the analogous centers in the isomorphic hosts KMgF3 and KZnF3.

On the V-centers in KBr Crystals
Journal of the Physical Society of Japan, 1958The natures of V bands in the additively colored crystals of KBr has been investigated. Mollwo's results were confirmed and extended. A new technique of additive coloring was devised to produce a high concentration of V centers in the crystal of KBr. By using this method, the degree of coloration could be increased by about ten times of.

Design centering of a GaN photonic crystal nanobeam
2015 17th International Conference on Transparent Optical Networks (ICTON), 2015It is well known that structures containing photonic crystal cavities produce cavity modes with extremely large Q-factors. This type of structure can be hyper sensitive to both design and manufacturing processes. Each parameter, be it structural or material will have a tolerance associated with it and the purpose of design centering is to obtain a ...

Colored Centers in Ionic Crystals
2000When a vacancy is created in a crystal, an electron may be trapped at this location. This bound electron can absorb light at well defined frequencies, thus changing the color of the crystal.

Secondary photorefractive centers in Sn_2P_2S_6:Sb crystals
Optics Letters, 2011Secondary photorefractive centers in Sb-doped Sn2P2S6 have a lifetime comparable to the formation time of the space-charge grating. This considerably affects the dynamics of two-beam coupling and results in a new type of transient gain enhancement for preilluminated samples.

Stabilization of U1-centers and laser color centers in LiF:OH crystals
AIP Conference Proceedings, 2019The formation of U1-centers in LiF:OH crystals, γ-irradiated to a dose of 1.3×104 C/kg at a temperature of 80 K, is considered in this study. The band at νmax = 2315 cm−1 is the main band of local interstitial hydrogen ions vibrations, which is more stable at room temperature (in a few month) than the additional band at νmax = 2260 cm−1.

The monodispersed hard-sphere system is one of the simplest models for the study of phase transitions. Despite intensive studies of crystallization and melting of hard-sphere face-centered cubic (FCC) crystals, the phase transformations of hard-sphere body-centered cubic (BCC) crystals have not been explored because hard spheres cannot form a stable ...

On the N Centers in KCl Crystals
Journal of the Physical Society of Japan, 1962The optical and thermal natures of N (N 1 and N 2 ) centers in additively colored KCl crystals were investigated. These centers were optically stable, but thermally sensitive. Their thermal stabilities were contrasting, N 1 center being far more stable than N 2 center. They were found to have intimate relations with R center.

Crystal structure of mouse RhoA:GTPγS complex in a centered lattice
Journal of Structural and Functional Genomics, 2012RhoA, a member of the Rho sub-family of small GTPases, plays a significant signaling role in cell morphogenesis, migration, neuronal development, cell division and adhesion. So far, 4 structures of RhoA:GDP/GTP analogs and 14 structures of RhoA in complex with other proteins have been reported.

Crystal field at the impurity center sites in ionic crystals
Physics of the Solid State, 2005Perturbation theory is developed for second-quantized operators in a basis of partly nonorthogonal orbitals. This method may be helpful in carrying out ab initio calculations of the parameters of the crystal field at the impurity center sites. As an illustration, when estimating the crystal field parameters for Yb3+: KZnF3, some fitting parameters are ...
