Peculiarities of Morphology Formation of Silicon Surface under the Action of Laser Pulses

open access: yesФізика і хімія твердого тіла, 2018
The experimental studies of geometry features of silicon layers in areas of second and millisecond laser pulses were carried out. The results of microscopic studies of periodic structures that are formed on the surfaces with crystallographic orientation (

Dynamic recrystallization and deformation mechanisms of naturally deformed Carrara Marble: a study on one- and two-phase carbonate rocks [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
Carrara marble is a greenschist facies metamorphic marble from the Alpi Apuane, Tuscany, Italy. It is widely known for its chemical purity, its homogenous microstructure and isotropic texture (crystallographic preferred orientation).

Donor‐Engineered Chiral Indium–Salen Complexes for Tunable Circularly Polarized Luminescence

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Chiral indium–salen complexes bearing electronically and structurally diverse donor substituents are presented as modular main‐group luminophores exhibiting tunable blue‐to‐green circularly polarized luminescence. Donor engineering systematically controls frontier‐orbital distribution, intraligand charge transfer, and excited‐state relaxation ...

Micro-grinding temperature prediction considering the effects of crystallographic orientation

open access: yesManufacturing Review, 2019
Tensile stress and thermal damage resulting from thermal loading will reduce the anti-fraying and anti-fatigue of workpieces, which is undesirable for micro-grinding, so it is imperative to control the rise of temperature.

Nanoconfinement‐Induced Second‐Harmonic Circular Dichroism via Chirality–Ferroelectric Coupling

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Nanoconfinement of a ferroelectric nematic liquid crystal within a chiral nanoporous sponge yields an enhanced second‐harmonic generation circular dichroism (|gSHG–CD| ≈ 1.1). Polarization‐resolved analysis suggests an additional magnetic‐dipole‐associated nonlinear contribution under nanoconfinement, highlighting chirality–ferroelectric coupling as a ...

CERCETAREA CELULELOR SOLARE CU HETEROJONCŢIUNEA nCdS-pInP

open access: yesStudia Universitatis Moldaviae: Stiinte reale si ale naturii, 2009
Photoelectrical dependencies of nCdS-pInP solar cells, as a function of electro physical parameters, crystallographic orientation of InP substrate and of the deposition duration of the nCdS epitaxial for layer are presented.

Crystallographic orientation of cuttlebone shield determined by electron backscatter diffraction

open access: yes, 2014
In common with many cephalopod mollusks, cuttlefish produce an internal biomineral buoyancy device. This cuttlebone is analogous to a surf board in shape and structure, providing rigidity and a means of controlling buoyancy. The cuttlebone is composed of

Pressure‐Assisted Dimensional Transformation of 2D Hydrogenated Borophene into 0D Boron Quantum Dots

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Hydrogenated borophene (HB) is transformed into distinct boron nanostructures through a solvent‐free thermal process. Under flowing nitrogen, hydrogen escape promotes reconstruction into B2O3 nanoplatelets, whereas hydrogen‐induced pressure under sealed conditions facilitates fragmentation into boron quantum dots.

Anisotropic Phonon Dynamics and Directional Transport in Actinide Van der Waals Semiconductor Uranium Triselenide

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
USe3 is introduced as an actinide van der Waals semiconductor that mirrors the quasi‐one‐dimensional physics of transition‐metal trichalcogenides. Polarization‐resolved Raman spectroscopy on exfoliated flakes maps strong in‐plane phonon anisotropy and strain‐tunable mode shifts.
