Preoperative Albumin Infusion Reduced Pulmonary Complications in Elderly Patients With Hypoalbuminemia Undergoing Cardiac Surgery: A Single‐Center, Randomized, Double‐Blind, Controlled Pilot Trial

Elderly patients with preoperative hypoalbuminemia (< 40 g/L) undergoing cardiac surgery with cardiopulmonary bypass were randomized to receive 100 mL of 20% albumin or saline before surgery. Albumin infusion reduced the severity and incidence of PPCs and modulated immune balance.
