This article presents data collected by measurements of lead (Pb) and iron (Fe) and their combination as heavy shielding materials. Measurements were performed using gamma photon energies of 662, 1173, and 1332keV for the Cs-137 and Co-60 sources. The theoretical data part was calculated using WinXCom, Phy-X, and Py-MLUBF software packages.

Modelling and Monte Carlo organ dose calculations for workers walking on ground contaminated with Cs-137 and Co-60 gamma sources [PDF]
A pair of walking phantoms was developed from deformable mesh phantoms to represent individuals walking on contaminated ground. The Monte Carlo N-particle extended version code was used to calculate organ doses from ground contamination scenarios involving parallel and isotropic planar sources of Cs-137 and Co-60 with concentrations of 30 kBqm(-2). For

Non-destructive technique to verify clearance of pipes [PDF]
A semi-empirical, non-destructive technique to evaluate the activity of gamma ray emitters in contaminated pipes is discussed. The technique is based on in-situ measurements by a portable NaI gamma ray spectrometer.

Radiation damage and recovery properties of common plastics PEN (Polyethylene Naphthalate) and PET (Polyethylene Terephthalate) using a137Cs gamma ray source up to 1.4 Mrad and 14 Mrad [PDF]
Polyethylene naphthalate (PEN) and polyethylene teraphthalate (PET) are cheap and common polyester plastics used throughout the world in the manufacturing of bottled drinks, containers for foodstuffs, and fibers used in clothing. These plastics are also known organic scintillators with very good scintillation properties. As particle physics experiments

Gamma ray attenuation for determining soil density: laboratory experiments for Environmental Physics and Engineering courses [PDF]
In this paper, we present in details a method for determining the soil density of disturbed samples. The mass attenuation coefficient was also evaluated by using the relation between the number of photon counts and the path length (soil density ...
