Longitudinal associations between play experiences and trajectories of preschoolers' mental health from April–July, 2020

open access: yesJCPP Advances, EarlyView.
Based on data collected monthly from April to July 2020, we found that time spent playing outside and with other children were associated with lower internalising problems across time in preschool‐aged children, whereas more time spent playing alone was associated with more severe internalising problems.

Discovery of a Shell of Neutral Atomic Hydrogen Surrounding the Carbon Star IRC+10216

open access: yes, 2015
We have used the Robert C. Byrd Green Bank Telescope to perform the most sensitive search to date for neutral atomic hydrogen (HI) in the circumstellar envelope (CSE) of the carbon star IRC+10216.

Predicting 7‐year‐olds mental health in the perinatal period: Development and internal validation of a multivariable model using the prospective ALSPAC cohort

open access: yesJCPP Advances, EarlyView.
Abstract Background Mental health difficulties in childhood are increasing. Prevention is the only sustainable and ethical public health approach. However, predicting which children are most at‐risk of mental health difficulties prior to symptoms emerging remains elusive.

Corticosterone and Mitochondrial Efficiency Are Associated With Changes in DNA Oxidative Damage During an Acute Stress Response in Leach's Storm‐Petrels (Hydrobates leucorhous)

open access: yesJournal of Experimental Zoology Part A: Ecological and Integrative Physiology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The ability of organisms to effectively respond to challenges is critical for survival. We investigated how an acute stressor affected corticosterone, mitochondrial function, and DNA oxidative damage in a wild population of Leach's storm‐petrels (Hydrobates leucorhous).

Erythromycin Suppresses the Cigarette Smoke Extract-Exposed Dendritic Cell-Mediated Polarization of CD4+ T Cells into Th17 Cells

open access: yesJournal of Immunology Research, 2020
Cigarette smoke is a major effector of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), and Th17 cells and dendritic cells (DCs) involve in the pathogenesis of COPD. Previous studies have demonstrated the anti-inflammatory effects of macrolides.

Oxymatrine Inhibits Epithelial‐Mesenchymal Transition to Alleviate Airway Remodeling in Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease by Suppressing the TGF‐β1/Smad Pathway

open access: yesThe Kaohsiung Journal of Medical Sciences, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT This study explored the therapeutic efficacy of oxymatrine (OMT, C15H24N2O2) in a murine model of cigarette smoke (CS)‐induced chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and elucidated its underlying mechanisms. A COPD model was established in mice through prolonged exposure to CS, followed by intraperitoneal administration of OMT (50 mg/kg)

PDCD5 Contributes to Airway Epithelial Cell Damage via Mitochondrial Pathway and Participates in COPD Pathogenesis

open access: yesThe Kaohsiung Journal of Medical Sciences, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Airway epithelial injury plays a critical role in the pathogenesis of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). Mitochondrial dysfunction is implicated in this injury, while the underlying mechanism remains incompletely understood. RNA sequencing was conducted to identify key genes involved in mitochondrial dysfunction in airway epithelial
