From Standard to Bayesian: Revisiting Ocean Color Model Evaluation

open access: yesEarth and Space Science, Volume 13, Issue 2, February 2026.
Abstract Ocean color models, facilitated by satellite‐based remote sensing technologies, have transformed our ability to monitor chlorophyll‐a concentrations at the ocean's surface. These models decode changes in the spectral properties of reflected sunlight to map phytoplankton biomass across extensive spatial and temporal scales.

Lifespan‐Extending Endogenous Metabolites

open access: yesAging Cell, Volume 25, Issue 2, February 2026.
Endogenous metabolites act as mediators of longevity by modulating conserved cellular pathways. We summarize mechanistic evidence linking specific metabolites to lifespan and healthspan benefits across model systems, with discussion of clinical evidence, translational opportunities, and remaining knowledge gaps.

Vulnerability of marine megafauna to global at‐sea anthropogenic threats

open access: yesConservation Biology, Volume 40, Issue 1, February 2026.
Abstract Marine megafauna species are affected by a wide range of anthropogenic threats. To evaluate the risk of such threats, species’ vulnerability to each threat must first be determined. We build on the existing threats classification scheme and ranking system of the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) Red List of Threatened ...

Healthcare Interventions to Support Informal Caregivers of People With Severe Mental Illnesses: A Scoping Review

open access: yesInternational Journal of Mental Health Nursing, Volume 35, Issue 1, February 2026.
ABSTRACT In recent years, care for people with severe mental illnesses (SMI) has shifted from institutional to recovery‐based treatment in which informal caregivers often have an important role. However, their increased involvement has elevated issues such as role strain or burden of care, which indicates that they need greater support.

Widening access to medicine: A realist review

open access: yesMedical Education, Volume 60, Issue 2, Page 106-118, February 2026.
Abstract Introduction Despite policy drivers and “on‐the‐ground” activity to encourage applicants from under‐represented minority groups (URMs) into medicine, their representation remains limited because of the challenge of overcoming complex societal and systemic barriers.
