Factors related to CSII compliance
Diabetes & Metabolism, 2005Many studies have demonstrated the metabolic efficacy of continuous subcutaneous insulin infusion (CSII) and particularly a reduction of glycaemic fluctuations in type 1 diabetic patients. Despite this benefit, many patients decide to discontinue the use of CSII. To determine the factors related to discontinuation of CSII we analyzed clinical data from

Counterregulatory responses in CSII
Diabetes Research and Clinical Practice, 2006Abstract Normally, glucose is the only substrate used by the brain to meet its metabolic requirements. Therefore, a continuous supply of circulatory glucose is a necessary prerequisite for normal cerebral metabolism. Acute hypoglycemia produces several physiological responses, known as counterregulatory, symptomatic and behavioral responses, that aim

Continuous subcutaneous insulin infusion (CSII) in Italy
Diabetes Research and Clinical Practice, 2006Abstract This paper evaluates the state of continuous subcutaneous insulin infusion (CSII) in Italy as of April 2005. We used a questionnaire covering clinical, technical and organisational aspects of CSII. We found that there were 2702 patients on CSII,97% with type 1 diabetes.

Improvement of Initial Remission Rate by Introduction of CSII
Pediatrics International, 1987AbstractWe studied 65 insulin‐dependent diabetic children and adolescents diagonosed during the period 1976–86 to find out the occurrence and duration of postini‐tial remission, the relationship between the remission behaviour and the initial treatment introduced by continuous subcutaneous insulin infusion (CSII), the favoring factors and the ...

Treatment with CSII in two infants with neonatal diabetes mellitus
Pediatric Diabetes, 2006This article reports the case studies of two children with neonatal onset of diabetes who were treated with continuous subcutaneous insulin infusion (CSII) from within 4 d to 3 wk of the diagnosis. The aim was to describe diabetes-related and insulin-pump-specific data in relation to growth and various feeding patterns when using CSII in infants with ...

Continuous Subcutaneous Insulin Infusion (CSII) Pumps
2012Optimal blood glucose control and the restoration of the physiological insulin secretion is a current medical challenge andwill account for an overall cardiovascular morbidity and mortality related to diabetes mellitus complications. Continuous Subcutaneous Insulin Infusion (CSII) is the first step to the development of the so-called "artificial ...

CSII in type 2 diabetic patients
Diabetes Research and Clinical Practice, 2006Abstract CSII has become an increasingly popular type of therapy for patients with type 1 diabetes. The benefits of insulin pump therapy (less glycemic variability, lower HbAlc, less incidence of severe hypoglycemia, and more flexible lifestyle with a positive impact on the quality of life) should be similar for patients with type 2 as well as type 1
