The CSI Effect

SSRN Electronic Journal, 2016
Abstract The CSI effect posits that exposure to television programs that portray forensic science (e.g., CSI: Crime Scene Investigation) can change the way jurors evaluate forensic evidence. We review (1) the theory behind the CSI effect; (2) the perception of the effect among legal actors; (3) the academic treatment of the effect ...

Electronic structure and optical properties of CsI, CsI(Ag), and CsI(Tl)

Journal of the Korean Physical Society, 2016
The band structure, electronic density of states and optical properties of CsI and of CsI doped with silver or thallium are studied by using a first-principles calculation based on density functional theory (DFT). The exchange and the correlation potentials among the electrons are described by using the generalized gradient approximation (GGA).
