Cyromazine Inhibits Larval Development of the Dog Flea, Ctenocephalides canis (Siphonaptera: Pulicidae)

Cyromazine (2-cyclopropylamino-4,6-diamino- s -triazine) is a novel insect growth regulator that is a potent inhibitor of dipterous larvae. Cyromazine is also an extremely effective inhibitor of larval and pupal development of the dog flea, Ctenocephalides canis (Curtis).

The sense organs on the surface of the antennal flagellum of female Ctenocephalides canis (Curtis) were examined to separate chemoreceptors from other types. There are several small mechanoreceptors on the ventro-lateral surface and 4 larger chemoreceptors on the dorsal edge of subsegments 5 to 8.
