Imigrantes em um continente perdido: O registro fossilífero de roedores Caviomorpha (Mammalia: Rodentia: Ctenohystrica) do Cenozoico do Brasil

open access: yesTerrae Didatica, 2018
Rodentia é um dos grupos de mamíferos placentários mais diversificados. Representantes desse clado possuem uma ampla distribuição geográfica, ocupando todos os continentes, com exceção da Antártida.

Genetic and demographic structure in a population of Ctenomys lami (Rodentia-Ctenomyidae). [PDF]

open access: yesHereditas, 2004
The variability at eight microsatellite loci was analyzed in 88 individuals of Ctenomys lami, a species of tuco-tucos. Initially considered as three subpopulations, the estimated Fst values ranged from 0.0007 to 0.0589. Additionally, a Bayesian approach presented probabilities of 0.9933 for the existence of only one population.

Хромосомы и видообразование у туко-туко (Ctenomys, Hystricognathi, Rodentia) [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Tuco-tucos, South American rodents of the genus Ctenomys represent an interesting model of speciation. Their strict territorial and solitary life under the earth, vast but highly fragmented habitats, low migration activity were the causes of their very ...

Species groups and the evolutionary diversification of tuco-tucos, genusCtenomys(Rodentia: Ctenomyidae) [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Mammalogy, 2011
Abstract We present the most comprehensive study to date of species groups in Ctenomys (tuco-tucos), a species-rich genus of Neotropical rodents. To explore phylogenetic relationships among 38 species and 12 undescribed forms we sequenced the complete mitochondrial cytochrome-b genes of 34 specimens and incorporated 50 previously published sequences ...

Sexual behavior of Ctenomys pearsoni (Rodentia: Ctenomyidae) in “Carrasco” population (Montevideo - Uruguay)

open access: yesACTA ZOOLÓGICA MEXICANA (N.S.), 2022
Ctenomys is a genus of South American subterranean rodents that is distributed from Peru to southern Argentina and Uruguay. The present work studies the reproductive behavior (courtship and copula) of Ctenomys pearsoni (Carrasco population, Uruguay). To carry out the characterization, we used an ethogram with 19 behavioral units grouped into different ...

Homomorphic Sex Chromosomes and the Intriguing Y Chromosome of Ctenomys Rodent Species (Rodentia, Ctenomyidae) [PDF]

open access: yesCytogenetic and Genome Research, 2014
Unlike the X chromosome, the mammalian Y chromosome undergoes evolutionary decay resulting in small size. This sex chromosomal heteromorphism, observed in most species of the fossorial rodent Ctenomys, contrasts with the medium-sized, homomorphic acrocentric sex chromosomes of closely related C. maulinus and C. sp.

A new living species of the genus Ctenomys (Rodentia: Ctenomyidae) from central-western Argentina [PDF]

open access: yesVertebrate Zoology
The genus Ctenomys Blainville, 1826 includes 68 living species of small to medium-sized (100–1200 g) caviomorph rodents of subterranean habits. During the last decade, this genus has been the subject of numerous taxonomic studies, including the ...
