Control of macrophytes by grass carp (Ctenopharyngodon idella) in a Waikato drain, New Zealand [PDF]

open access: yesNew Zealand Journal of Marine and Freshwater Research, 2003
Hornwort (Ceratophyllum demersum L.) and other aquatic macrophytes have historically been mechanically removed from the Rangiriri drain and Churchill East drain to maintain drain efficiency.

Characterization of CD3γ/δ+ cells in grass carp (Ctenopharyngodon idella)

Developmental & Comparative Immunology, 2021
CD3 is an essential component of the TCR-CD3 complex which plays a key role in adaptive immunity. Non-mammalian CD3 complex consists of CD3γ/δ, CD3ε and CD3ζ subunits. In this study, homologues of CD3γ/δ and CD3ε (termed CiCD3γ/δ and CiCD3ε) have been identified in grass carp (Ctenopharyngodon idella).

Characterization and expression of galectin-3 in grass carp (Ctenopharyngodon idella)

Developmental & Comparative Immunology, 2020
Galectins are members of evolutionary conserved lectin family and play important roles in the innate and adaptive immunity of both vertebrates and invertebrates. Galectin-3 is the only chimera galectin with one C-terminal carbohydrate recognition domain (CRD) connected to the N-terminal end.

Characterisation and function of TRIM23 in grass carp (Ctenopharyngodon idella)

Fish & Shellfish Immunology, 2019
Tripartite motif (TRIM) proteins are key components of the innate immune system, functioning as antiviral restriction factors or modulating signaling cascades that lead to proinflammatory cytokine induction. In the present study, the TRIM family gene TRIM23 from grass carp (Ctenopharyngodon idella) was cloned and characterised.

Inheritance of albinism in the grass carp, Ctenopharyngodon idella

Aquaculture, 1993
Abstract The inheritance of albinism in grass carp was investigated in a series of spawns involving wild-type colored×wild-type colored, albino×albino, wild-type colored×albino in both reciprocal combinations and the back-cross albino×(wild-type colored×albino). The results of these spawns showed that, as in rainbow trout, albinism is due to a single

Cloning, sequencing of the HSC70 gene in Ctenopharyngodon idella

Wuhan University Journal of Natural Sciences, 2014
A cDNA encoding heat shock cognate protein 70 (HSC70) was cloned from liver of grass carp (Ctenopharyngodon idella) (GenBank JF436930). This cDNA was found out to contain 2 346 bp in length, including 1 950 bp of complete coding sequence encoding 649 amino acids (aa), plus 89 bp of 5′-UTR and 307 bp of 3′-UTR. Analysis of its genomic structure revealed

Regional functional differentiation in the gut of the grasscarp, Ctenopharyngodon idella (Val.)

Histochemistry, 1979
A regional differentiation--reflecting structural differences--of the intestine of larval and juvenile grasscarps can be illustrated by studying the activity of alkaline phosphatase and the uptake of orally administered horseradish peroxidase. Pinocytosis takes place in a welldefined area of about 23% of the length of the gut (segment II).

Functional characterisation of interleukin 34 in grass carp Ctenopharyngodon idella

Fish & Shellfish Immunology, 2019
Interleukin (IL) 34 plays an important role in regulating macrophage functions and inflammation process. IL-34 homologues have recently been discovered in fish but the functions have not been studied. In this study, an IL-34 homologue was identified in grass carp Ctenopharyngodon idella and its bioactivities were investigated.
