Sleep magnetoencephalography enhances detection and source imaging of seizures and fast oscillations in focal cortical dysplasia

open access: yesEpilepsia, EarlyView.
Abstract Objective Focal cortical dysplasia (FCD) causes drug‐resistant epilepsy requiring presurgical evaluation. Invasive electroencephalographic (EEG) studies demonstrate that sleep modulates epileptic activity, including interictal epileptiform discharges (IEDs), fast oscillations (FOs) in the beta (14–40 Hz) and gamma (40–80 Hz) frequency bands ...

Mid‐Infrared Quantum Scanning Microscopy via Visible Light Beyond Spatial Correlations

open access: yesLaser &Photonics Reviews, EarlyView.
This work introduces a raster‐scanning approach based on quantum imaging with undetected light (QIUL) that probes samples in the mid‐infrared (MIR) spectral range while performing detection in the visible domain. Unlike previous QIUL implementations, this technique operates independently of photon‐pair spatial correlations and relies solely on induced ...

Validation of COBAYA4/CTF coupling within European NURESIM Platform against MCNP/CTF

open access: yes, 2017
Through NURESAFE project, depth modifications were performed in the core simulator from the UPM COBAYA. COBAYA was recoded and integrated into NURESIM platform with all its capabilities. The last version of the code is COBAYA4. Moreover, a new coupling was developed with one of the last versions of the thermal-hydraulic code integrated into NURESIM ...

The scale matters: A review on stimuli‐responsive microrobots categorized by scale for biomedical applications

open access: yesResponsive Materials, EarlyView.
We systematically summarize how each scale dictates fundamental choices in design feature, manufacturing technology, driving mechanism, and control strategy, which are inherently governed by scale‐dominated physical principles. Furthermore, the application of scale‐determined operation modes of microrobots across different stages of medical ...

Gctf: real-time CTF determination and correction

open access: yesJournal of Structural Biology, 2015
AbstractAccurate estimation of the contrast transfer function (CTF) is critical for a near-atomic resolution cryo electron microscopy (cryoEM) reconstruction. Here, I present a GPU-accelerated computer program, Gctf, for accurate and robust, real-time CTF determination.

Strain‐Field‐Induced Bandgap Opening in Bilayer Graphene

open access: yesSmall, EarlyView.
Bandgaps of up to 50 meV are opened in bilayer graphene through periodic in‐plane strain fields imposed by a three‐layer graphene/organic 2D crystal/graphene heterostructure. The bandgap originates not from bilayer formation itself, but from bond‐length modulation at domain boundaries.

Antimicrobial properties of copper tetraamine fluoride

open access: yesJournal of Applied Biomaterials & Functional Materials
Background: A stable copper tetraamine fluoride (CTF) with low cytotoxicity has been developed for dental use. Objective: To investigate the antimicrobial effects of CTF against common microbes associated with dental caries and periodontal disease ...

Assessment of CTF boiling transition and critical heat flux modeling capabilities using the OECD/NRC BFBT and PSBT benchmark databases [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
The need to refine models for best-estimate calculations, based on good-quality experimental data, has been expressed in many recent meetings in the field of nuclear applications.

Sequential Reduction of Chromite Pellets Using Hydrogen and Silicon Carbide for Carbon Emission Abatement During Ferrochrome Production

open access: yessteel research international, EarlyView.
H2 prereduction selectively metallizes Fe in UG2 chromite pellets at 1100°C, while silicon carbide becomes active at 1300°C to convert remaining Cr2O3 to carbides and promote Cr metallization. By separating the roles of H2 and SiC, the sequential route reaches up to 65.7% Cr metallization and suppresses in‐furnace CO generation by ≈75% versus ...
