Automated decision support tool for static angle modulated ports configuration in VMAT with dynamic collimator rotation for head and neck cancer

open access: yesJournal of Applied Clinical Medical Physics, Volume 27, Issue 10, October 2026.
Abstract Background RapidArc Dynamic (RAD; Varian Medical Systems, Palo Alto, CA) is a novel volumetric modulated arc therapy (VMAT) technique that features dynamic collimator rotation synchronized with gantry rotation. RAD enables the use of static angle‐modulated ports (STAMPs) defined by user selected gantry and collimator angles.

Dosimetric analysis of rib interference of the CTV during interstitial brachytherapy of lung tumors

open access: yes, 2017
Purpose : In interstitial brachytherapy for lung tumors, the placement and alignment of the source needles are influenced by the ribs, which can affect the dose distribution.

An institutional experience of a scripting‐driven automation of the emergent palliative radiotherapy workflow

open access: yesJournal of Applied Clinical Medical Physics, Volume 27, Issue 10, October 2026.
Abstract Background Emergency palliative radiotherapy is often delivered under time‐constrained and high‐stress conditions, frequently bypassing conventional computed tomography (CT) simulation and relying on nonstandard workflows. These factors increase variability and the potential for error.

SRS/SBRT commissioning process with a hybrid beam data model in new preconfigured CyberKnife system

open access: yesJournal of Applied Clinical Medical Physics, Volume 27, Issue 10, October 2026.
Abstract Background A new preconfigured CyberKnife system was introduced to improve the SRS/SBRT commissioning efficiency. The vendor provides a reference beam data set, termed “beam data model (BDM)”, and recommends its validation and combination with measurement data to develop a hybrid beam data model (h‐BDM).

Damage mechanism of asphalt mixtures induced by frost heave under cyclic temperature variations: A discrete element simulation study

open access: yesCase Studies in Construction Materials
To investigate the frost heave failure mechanism of asphalt mixtures under Cyclic Temperature Variations (CTV) cycles, this study employs the water-ice particle phase transition coupled expansion method based on discrete element theory.

Clinical evaluation and regression test of a commercial deep‐learning auto‐segmentation model

open access: yesJournal of Applied Clinical Medical Physics, Volume 27, Issue 10, October 2026.
Abstract Background Commercial deep‐learning segmentation (DLS) tools are increasingly used in clinical practice. Software updates may alter segmentation performance, highlighting the need for systematic clinical evaluation before implementation. Purpose This study presents our experience in clinically evaluating and regression‐testing a RayStation DLS

Automatic single‐isocenter multiple‐target cranial stereotactic treatment plan optimization via planning system scripting

open access: yesJournal of Applied Clinical Medical Physics, Volume 27, Issue 10, October 2026.
Abstract Background Single‐isocenter multiple‐target stereotactic radiation treatments delivered on C‐arm linear accelerators are increasingly common due to practical advantages in both accessibility and speed compared to multiple isocenter treatments.

Potential of isotoxic dose escalation with robustly optimized VMAT and IMPT for large hepatocellular carcinoma according to baseline liver function

open access: yesJournal of Applied Clinical Medical Physics, Volume 27, Issue 10, October 2026.
Abstract Background Large hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) adjacent to gastrointestinal (GI) organs presents a constrained radiotherapy problem because dose escalation is limited by both hepatic reserve and serial‐organ tolerance. Although intensity‐modulated proton therapy (IMPT) can reduce uninvolved liver irradiation, its achievable advantage over ...

Predominance of In‐Field Recurrence After Radiotherapy for Sinonasal Cancer: A Single‐Center Retrospective Study

open access: yesHead &Neck, Volume 48, Issue 10, Page 2704-2712, October 2026.
ABSTRACT Background Sinonasal malignancies (SNM) are rare, heterogeneous tumors with poor prognosis. There is an unmet need to improve treatment outcomes. Despite advances in imaging and molecular classification, optimal curative radiotherapy (RT) strategies remain undefined.
