In situ molecular organization and heterogeneity of the Legionella Dot/Icm T4SS

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We present a nearly complete in situ model of the Legionella Dot/Icm type IV secretion system, revealing its central secretion channel and identifying new components. Using cryo‐electron tomography with AI‐based modeling, our work highlights the structure, variability, and mechanism of this complex nanomachine, advancing understanding of bacterial ...

System Size and Energy Dependence of Elliptic Flow

open access: yes, 2006
The elliptic flow v2 is presented for the Cu+Cu collisions at sqrt{s_NN} = 62.4 and 200 GeV, as a function of pseudorapidity. Comparison to results for the Au+Au collisions at the same energies shows a reduction of about 20% in the flow observed for a ...

Exploiting metabolic adaptations to overcome dabrafenib treatment resistance in melanoma cells

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We show that dabrafenib‐resistant melanoma cells undergo mitochondrial remodeling, leading to elevated respiration and ROS production balanced by stronger antioxidant defenses. This altered redox state promotes survival despite mitochondrial damage but renders resistant cells highly vulnerable to ROS‐inducing compounds such as PEITC, highlighting redox

Peroxidasin enables melanoma immune escape by inhibiting natural killer cell cytotoxicity

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Peroxidasin (PXDN) is secreted by melanoma cells and binds the NK cell receptor NKG2D, thereby suppressing NK cell activation and cytotoxicity. PXDN depletion restores NKG2D signaling and enables effective NK cell–mediated melanoma killing. These findings identify PXDN as a previously unrecognized immune evasion factor and a potential target to improve

Interface Characteristics at an Organic/Metal Junction: Pentacene on Cu Stepped Surfaces

open access: yes, 2016
The adsorption of pentacene on Cu(221), Cu(511) and Cu(911) is investigated using density functional theory (DFT) with the self-consistent inclusion of van der Waals (vdW) interactions. Cu(211) is a vicinal of Cu(111) while Cu(511) and (911) are vicinals

HSP70 governs permeability and mechanotransduction in primary human endothelial cells

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
HSP70 chemical inhibition reduces endothelial cell proliferation and increases permeability, the latter supported by normal interendothelial junctional protein distribution. HSP70 also plays a role in shear stress response, a hemodynamic force naturally present in blood vessels and correlated with vessel protection.

Non-destructive testing techniques for the observation of healing effects in cementitious materials: an introduction [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
To develop an appropriate method of self-healing for cementitious materials including the right composition and amount of suitable healing agents it is required to investigate the healing efficiency for certain material mixtures.

Enhanced spin-flip scattering at the surface of copper in lateral spin valves

open access: yes, 2009
We performed non-local electrical measurements of a series of Py/Cu lateral spin valve devices with different Cu thicknesses. We show that both the spin diffusion length of Cu and the apparent spin polarization of Py increase with Cu thickness.

Spectrophotometric fast determination of Cu and Zn in Steel Cord Brass Coating via an Effective Masking Approach [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Chemistry Letters
The Cu2+ and Zn2+ ions were determined in the steel cord brass coatings with high precise. HNO3 65% was used for digesting the coatings and releasing the ions into environment.

Copper Accumulation by Avicennia marina at Mangrove Eco-forest in Wonorejo, Surabaya [PDF]

open access: yesE3S Web of Conferences, 2020
Large quantities of wastewater from industries and households were released to Wonorejo river in Surabaya East Coast area. The concentration of Cu at the Wonorejo Estuary reached 3.186 mg/L at brackish water in 2009 One of the inorganic pollutants that ...
