Impacts of cubic Boron Nitride (CBN) support rods on TWT performance

2016 IEEE International Vacuum Electronics Conference (IVEC), 2016
We propose new support rod material in helix TWTs to improve the heat dissipation performance of the tubes, which is the cubic Boron Nitride (CBN) crystal with the second highest thermal conductivity and relatively low dielectric constant. The high frequency characteristics and the beam-wave interaction of helix slow wave structure with CBN and BeO ...

Investigation of Ti coatings on cubic boron nitride (cBN) grits by discharge treatment in spark plasma sintering system

Advanced Powder Technology, 2017
Abstract The Ti coatings on cubic boron nitride (cBN) grits were prepared by discharge treatment on a mixture of Ti powders and cBN grits in spark plasma sintering system. The uniform and full coatings with a thickness of ∼1.2 μm were prepared at 850 °C for 60 min, which were constituted with TiB2, TiN, and Ti phases.

Polycrystalline cubic boron nitride sintered compacts prepared from nanocrystalline TiN coated cBN powder

Materials Science & Engineering A: Structural Materials: Properties, Microstructure and Processing, 2012
Abstract Polycrystalline cubic boron nitride (PcBN) samples were fabricated via high pressure high temperature (HPHT) sintering process using nanocrystalline TiN particle coated cBN powder. cBN powder was coated with TiN nanoparticles prior to sintering for the purpose of improving microstructural homogeneity.

Morphological study of a cubic boron nitride (CBN) cutting tool and characterization of its wear scenarios in abrasive machining process

Ceramics International, 2020
Abstract Cubic boron nitride (CBN) composites are usually fabricated by sintering abrasive particles and binder powders under certain temperature and vacuum conditions. As a result, the inherent geometrical inhomogeneity of the abrasive grains in the binding matrix becomes an important intrinsic characteristic.

Nucleation, growth and characterization of cubic boron nitride (cBN) films

Journal of Physics D: Applied Physics, 2007
Cubic BN (cBN) has a set of extreme properties similar or even superior to diamond. The advance of science and technology of cBN has however been severely hampered by the poor quality of the material available (random orientation, limited film thickness, poor crystallinity and adhesion with substrates due to a non-cubic BN interlayer).

Grinding of Steels with Cubic Boron Nitride (CBN)

CIRP Annals, 1984
An investigation is reported on grinding of steels with resin bonded cubic boron nitride (CBN) wheels with various operating parameters, wheel compositions, truing and dressing methods, and workpiece compositions and heat treatment. During grinding, the forces were generally found to decrease from extremely high peak values at a progressively slower ...

Machinability of Pearlitic Cast Iron With Cubic Boron Nitride (CBN) Cutting Tools

Journal of Manufacturing Science and Engineering, 2002
In order to increase the accurate finishing productivity of pearlitic cast iron, face milling by CBN (Cubic Boron Nitride) cutting tools was studied. The main focus of the study is the machinability investigation of pearlitic cast iron with CBN cutting tools by studying the relationships among machining conditions such as feed rate, cutting speed as ...
