Utilization of moderate pressure and elevated temperatures in the optimization of Ti2AlC‐cBN composites using SPS technique

open access: yesInternational Journal of Ceramic Engineering & Science, 2021
The formation reaction mechanism of Ti2AlC cubic boron nitride (cBN) composite materials was investigated using different particle sizes at different volume percentages of cBN (20 and 40 vol%), at a constant moderate pressure while varying time and ...

Ammonothermal Growth of Rhombohedral Boron Nitride

open access: yesphysica status solidi (b), Volume 262, Issue 12, December 2025.
Boron nitride crystals are grown using the ammonothermal technique in a temperature‐induced solubility gradient of BN dissolved in a solution of supercritical ammonia using sodium as the mineralizer. The grown BN crystals harvest off the autoclave walls, and cubic BN seeds are characterized as hexagonal and rhombohedral phases of BN. Boron nitride (BN)

Research Update: Direct conversion of h-BN into pure c-BN at ambient temperatures and pressures in air

open access: yesAPL Materials, 2016
We report a direct conversion of hexagonal boron nitride (h-BN) into pure cubic boron nitride (c-BN) by nanosecond laser melting at ambient temperatures and atmospheric pressure in air.

Sputtered Amorphous Boron Nitride‐Silicon Oxide Composite Toward Thickness‐Scalable Low‐k Interlayer Dielectric Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, Volume 10, Issue 22, November 19, 2025.
Amorphous boron nitride (aBN) crystallizes into turbostratic BN as the thickness increases, leading to a higher dielectric constant (k‐value), increased leakage current density, and reduced breakdown field. Incorporating SiOx layers effectively prevents this crystallization.
