Negative Order KdV Equation with No Solitary Traveling Waves
We consider the negative order KdV (NKdV) hierarchy which generates nonlinear integrable equations. Selecting different seed functions produces different evolution equations. We apply the traveling wave setting to study one of these equations. Assuming a

General Cubic‐Quartic Functional Equation [PDF]
We obtain the general solution and the generalized Hyers‐Ulam stability of the general cubic‐quartic functional equation for fixed integerskwithk≠ 0, ±1:f(x+ky) +f(x−ky) =k2(f(x+y) +f(x−y)) + 2(1 −k2)f(x)+((k4−k2)/4)(f(2y) − 8f(y)), where .

This article proposes a convergent adaptive observer for a damped wave PDE and an infinite‐dimensional ODE coupled in cascade using sampled‐in‐space ODE state measurements. The proposed observer estimates the distributed states of the PDE and ODE along with unknown PDE parameters and spatial input.

ErB4 and NdB4 nanostructured powders are produced by mechanochemical synthesis. 5 h mechanical alloying and 4 M HCl acid leaching are used in the production. ErB4 and NdB4 powders exhibit maximum magnetization of 0.4726 emu g−1 accompanied with an antiferromagnetic‐to‐paramagnetic phase transition at about TN = 18 K and 0.132 emu g−1 with a maximum at ...

Two conic sections C1{C}_{1} and C2{C}_{2} in the Euclidean plane that pass through two given points can generally have two further points of intersection. It is shown how these can be constructed using compass and ruler.

The stability criteria affecting the formation of high‐entropy alloys, particularly focusing in supersaturated solid solutions produced by mechanical alloying, are analyzed. Criteria based on Hume–Rothery rules are distinguished from those derived from thermodynamic relations. The formers are generally applicable to mechanically alloyed samples.

General scalar renormalisation group equations at three-loop order
For arbitrary scalar QFTs in four dimensions, renormalisation group equations of quartic and cubic interactions, mass terms, as well as field anomalous dimensions are computed at three-loop order in the MS ¯ $$ \overline{\mathrm{MS}} $$ scheme. Utilising
