Some properties ofCucumis virus 2, occurring in The Netherlands were studied. From electron micrographs can be concluded that the virus particles are rod-shaped, with a length of about 325 mμ (fig. 1, 2 and 3).

It is also held that it had originated from wild melon (var. agrestis) in China (Walters 1989). Oriental melon is cultivated in Asia – India, China, Japan, Korea and southeast Asia.
