A Configural Dominant Account of Contextual Cueing: Configural Cues are Stronger than Colour Cues [PDF]
Previous work has shown that reaction times to find a target in displays that have been repeated are faster than those for displays that have never been seen before. This learning effect, termed “contextual cueing” (CC), has been shown using contexts such as the configuration of the distractors in the display and the background colour.

The Indexical Voice: Communication of Personal States and Traits in Humans and Other Primates
Many studies of primate vocalization have been undertaken to improve our understanding of the evolution of language. Perhaps, for this reason, investigators have focused on calls that were thought to carry symbolic information about the environment. Here

False cue influence on motion cue quality for 10 motion cueing algorithms [PDF]
Motion simulators are becoming increasingly popular for many applications in which human sensation is important to replicate and optimize target motions. For the emulation of the perceived human acceleration, motion cueing algorithms (MCAs) have been proposed in the literature that mimics the motion sensation by a combination of actual acceleration and

Linguistic Cues Enhance the Learning of Perceptual Cues [PDF]
When language is correlated with regularities in the world, does it enhance the learning of these regularities? This question lies at the core of both notions of linguistic bootstrapping in children and the Whorfian hypothesis. Support for an affirmative answer is provided in an artificial-noun-learning task in which 2-year-old children were taught to

Impacts of Cues on Learning and Attention in Immersive 360-Degree Video: An Eye-Tracking Study
Immersive 360-degree video has become a new learning resource because of its immersive sensory experience. This study examined the effects of textual and visual cues on learning and attention in immersive 360-degree video by using eye-tracking equipment ...

Predator olfactory cues generate a foraging–predation trade-off through prey apprehension [PDF]
Most animals are faced with the challenge of securing food under the risk of predation. This frequently generates a trade-off whereby animals respond to predator cues with reduced movement to avoid predation at the direct cost of reduced foraging success.
