Impact of Bifenthrin on Honeybees and Culex quinquefasciatus

open access: yesJournal of the American Mosquito Control Association, 2010
The impact of bifenthrin on honeybees, Apis mellifera (Hymenoptera: Apidae) was evaluated in both laboratory and semifield assays. Ten serial dilutions of bifenthrin and an acetone control using the bottle bioassay protocol were used in the laboratory to determine killing time after 15-, 30-, and 60-min honeybee exposure.

Insecticide resistance status in Culex quinquefasciatus in Benin [PDF]

open access: yesParasites & Vectors, 2015
Culex quinquefasciatus, an arboviral and filarial vector, is present year round in several cities of the Republic of Benin. There is more information on the resistance status to malaria vectors compared to Culicines. It is therefore unfortunate that the international focus is on Anopheles control and not so much done against Cx.

Characterization of a broad-based mosquito yeast interfering RNA larvicide with a conserved target site in mosquito semaphorin-1a genes [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
BACKGROUND: RNA interference (RNAi), which has facilitated functional characterization of mosquito neural development genes such as the axon guidance regulator semaphorin-1a (sema1a), could one day be applied as a new means of vector control ...

Response of Culex quinquefasciatus to visual stimuli.

open access: yesJournal of the American Mosquito Control Association, 1997
The vision of Culex quinquefasciatus was studied in the laboratory. The attractiveness of colors (black, white, brown, yellow, blue, a skin tone) was evaluated with respect to the collection of Cx. quinquefasciatus in natural light, in the dark, and in ultraviolet light.

Sensitivity and specificity of prick skin test with two concentrations of standardized extract of Culex quinquefasciatus in allergic children

open access: yesRevista Alergia México, 2016
BACKGROUND: Diagnostic options for immune reactions to mosquito bites are limited. In Cuba, IgE-mediated reactions are frequently related to Culex quinquefasciatus bite.
