ABSTRACT Elastic tethers connect telomeres of separating chromosomes in anaphase of animal cells. Immunofluorescence staining of titin in crane‐fly spermatocytes, using 4 different antibodies, shows that the giant elastic protein titin seems to be a component of mitotic tethers: titin “strands” extend between separating chromosomes, connecting their ...

Distinct Swimming Behaviours in Pupae of Aedes, Anopheles and Culex Mosquitoes
As improving our understanding of the ecology of mosquitoes, in particular of their juvenile stages, is required to develop or refine control strategies to prevent the transmission of deadly diseases, we here investigated the pupal surface swimming behaviour in 11 mosquito species of the genera Aedes, Anopheles and Culex.

Chandipura Virus: An Emerging Neurological Threat Transmitted by Sandflies in India
Chandipura virus (CHPV), a neurotropic arbovirus transmitted primarily by sandflies, has emerged as a significant public health concern in India following recurrent outbreaks with high pediatric fatality rates. This review highlights the virus's virology, transmission dynamics, clinical features, and the urgent need for improved diagnostics ...

Heterogeneous distribution of Culex pipiens, Culex quinquefasciatus and their hybrids along the urbanisation gradient [PDF]
The mosquitoes of the Culex pipiens complex, hereafter referred to as the Pipiens Assemblage, are vectors of arbovirus of worldwide concern including West Nile and St. Louis encephalitis. Given their distinct eco-physiology and vectorial capacity, accurate specimen identification and insight in the environmental drivers of their distribution are ...

A two‐pronged screen of small molecules – (1) on recombinant kinin receptor and (2) through topical application – identifies kinin receptor antagonists, feeding behavior modulators, and new mosquitocidal molecules. Abstract BACKGROUND Aedes aegypti and Culex quinquefasciatus mosquitoes are primary vectors for numerous human and animal pathogens and ...

Mosquitoes are insects which are responsible in transmission process of many diseases in humans and animals. One type that is often found is Culex quinquefasciatus. Culex quinquefasciatus mosquitoes serve as vectors of disease filariasis and chikungunya.
