Effect of ivermectin on the larvae of Anopheles gambiae and Culex quinquefasciatus [PDF]
Ivermectin is used extensively globally for treatment of helminthic and ectoparasitic infections in animals and humans. The effect of excreted ivermectin on non-target organisms in aquatic and terrestrial environments has been increasingly reported. Due to its low water solubility and adsorption to sediments, the ivermectin exposure-risk to aquatic ...

Molecular bases of insect odorant receptor function: specificity and evolution
ABSTRACT Insect odorant receptors (ORs) are a class of chemoreceptors that insects use to detect volatile cues in their environment. In recent years, major advances in the field of structural biology have made it possible to obtain the first structures of insect ORs.

Route of invasion and histopathology of Metarhizium anisopliae in Culex quinquefasciatus
Abstract The fungus Metarhizium anisopliae , known to be a pathogen of terrestrial insects, has been shown to be a potentially successful biocontrol agent of the Culicidae. Two methods of inoculation of Culex quinquefasciatus were examined and compared as to rate of kill, route of invasion, histopathology and pathogenesis, and presence or absence ...

Long-term effects of Bacillus sphaericus on Culex quinquefasciatus
Abstract Initial 48-hr exposures of second-instar Culex quinquefasciatus larvae to 0.005 mg/liter of Bacillus sphaericus primary powder resulted in an average of 58% corrected mortality. Continued significant mortality was observed after the exposures were terminated resulting in an average of 84% cumulative preadult corrected mortality.

Rearing Protocol for Culex quinquefasciatus
Mosquitoes are vectors capable of transmitting various life-threatening diseases such as dengue, chikungunya, Japanese encephalitis, lymphatic filariasis, malaria, and so on. They are reared in the laboratories for conducting various studies such as vector biology, vector competence, mechanism of disease transmission, to check the efficiency and follow-

The effects of ivermectin, a semi-synthetic drug widely used for treatment of livestock parasitic diseases, were observed on Culex quinquefasciatus larvae. Toxic effects and mortality evaluation were carried out after 5, 15, 30 and 60 minutes of exposure to 1, 5 or 10 ppm of ivermectin solutions.
