Lysyl Oxidase Reduces Neutrophil Extravasation in Response to P. aeruginosa in an Infection‐on‐a‐Chip Model

open access: yesAdvanced NanoBiomed Research, EarlyView.
Lysyl oxidase crosslinking of type I collagen decreases neutrophil extravasation through an endothelium during the initial response to P. aeruginosa. This decrease in extravasation is likely due to the increase in VE‐cadherin expression between endothelial cells seeded on LOX‐crosslinked collagen hydrogels.

Over the edge: Empirical evidence for the cliff‐edge model of obstetric selection

open access: yesThe Anatomical Record, EarlyView.
Abstract The cliff‐edge model of obstetric selection maintains that larger neonates and smaller birth canals confer a positive selective advantage until labor becomes obstructed and vaginal delivery is no longer possible, eliciting an abrupt reduction in fitness.

Fin Cells as a Promising Seed Cell Source for Sustainable Fish Meat Cultivation

open access: yes
Cell-cultured meat production relies on stable, proliferative seed cells, commonly sourced from muscle satellite cells (MuSCs) and adipose-derived mesenchymal stem cells (AD-MSCs). However, establishing such cell lines in fish species remains technically

Interpreting a Legacy Fossil Assemblage Excavated From Waribruk (New Guinea II Cave), GunaiKurnai Aboriginal Country, Snowy River National Park, Southeastern Australia

open access: yesArchaeology in Oceania, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT In this paper we report on faunal remains recovered from a legacy archaeological excavation undertaken in the rockshelter entrance of Waribruk (New Guinea II Cave), a GunaiKurnai site located on the west bank of the Snowy River, East Gippsland, southeastern Australia.

7000 Years of Aboriginal Mining at Sugarloaf Hill in the Riverland Region of South Australia

open access: yesArchaeology in Oceania, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Silcrete and chert are commonly represented in Aboriginal archaeological lithic assemblages across large parts of the southwestern Murray‐Darling Basin (MDB). In South Australia (SA), these materials were sourced from a series of quarries located along the incised course of the Murray River through the upper Riverland region.

Evaluation of a Product Intended for Microbiological Control in Animal Production, and Its Combination With Halquinol

open access: yesAnimal Research and One Health, EarlyView.
Activo Liquid and Halquinol inhibit Salmonella and Escherichia coli in culture media. Activo Liquid exhibits bactericidal action, whereas HA is bacteriostatic, and their combination results in positive or indifferent interactions. This combination effectively inhibits E. coli throughout digestion simulation, thus reducing the required concentrations of
