The cumacea are essentially benthic forms which live in the bottom deposits. They are rarely caught in plankton hauls. The cumacea dealt with here were obtained from 54 stations in the Indian Ocean and adjacent regions collected during the IIOE (1961–1965) in plankton nets and in the benthos samples.
