Minimax Estimation of a Cumulative Distribution Function

open access: yesThe Annals of Statistics, 1973
In this paper the minimax estimators of a cumulative distribution function $F$ is obtained for four types of loss functions. The result is quite general in that no restrictions are imposed on the unknown $F$. Moreover, the estimates do not depend upon the weight function used in the definition of the loss functions.

Dimethyl fumarate combined with cisplatin at subcytotoxic doses sensitizes cervical cancer toward ferroptosis and apoptosis through GSH restriction and p53 (re)activation

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Dimethyl fumarate (DMF) reduces growth of HPV‐positive cervical cancer spheroids and induces ferroptosis in cervical cancer cells via blocking SLC7A11/Glutathione (GSH) axis. Combination of subcytotoxic doses of DMF and cisplatin (CDDP) further suppresses spheroid growth and drives cell death in 2D culture models.

Statistical Analysis of Annual DNI Distribution and its Impact on Bankability Assessment for Concentrated Solar Power Plants

open access: yesSolarPACES Conference Proceedings
The Weibull distribution is commonly accepted as the most suitable model for describing the annual distribution of Direct Normal Irradiance (DNI). However, when the annual DNI is assumed to follow a Normal distribution instead of a Weibull distribution,

Targeted modulation of IGFL2‐AS1 reveals its translational potential in cervical adenocarcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Cervical adenocarcinoma patients face worse outcomes than squamous cell carcinoma counterparts despite similar treatment. The identification of IGFL2‐AS1's differential expression provides a molecular basis for distinguishing these histotypes, paving the way for personalized therapies and improved survival in vulnerable populations globally.

Breakup of meteoroids in the Venusian atmosphere and its effects on crater formation [PDF]

open access: yes
Early results of the Magellan mission to Venus show that almost all of the observed impact craters appear to be unaffected by erosion, burial, and tectonic deformation.

EDNRB‐dependent endothelin signaling reduces proliferation and promotes proneural‐to‐mesenchymal transition in gliomas

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Glioma cells mainly express the endothelin receptor EDNRB, while EDNRA is restricted to a perivascular tumor subpopulation. Endothelin signaling reduces glioma cell proliferation while promoting migration and a proneural‐to‐mesenchymal transition associated with poor prognosis. This pathway activates Ca2+, K+, ERK, and STAT3 signalings and is regulated

Extension of the Misme and Fimbel model for the estimation of the cumulative distribution function of the differential rain attenuation between two converging terrestrial links

open access: yesJournal of Microwaves, Optoelectronics and Electromagnetic Applications
A distribution-free model is presented for the cumulative distribution function of the differential rain attenuation between two co-channel converging terrestrial links operating at frequencies above 10 GHz.

Approximation of Cumulative Distribution Functions by Bernstein Phase-Type Distributions

open access: yesPerformance Evaluation
The inclusion of generally distributed random variables in stochastic models is often tackled by choosing a parametric family of distributions and applying fitting algorithms to find appropriate parameters. A recent paper proposed the approximation of probability density functions (PDFs) by Bernstein exponentials, which are obtained from Bernstein ...

Engineered extracellular vesicles enriched with the miR‐214/199a cluster enhance the efficacy of chemotherapy in ovarian cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Loss of the miR‐214/199a cluster is associated with recurrence in ovarian cancer. Engineered small extracellular vesicles (m214‐sEVs) elevate miR‐214‐3p/miR‐199a‐5p in tumor cells, suppress β‐catenin, TLR4, and YKT6 signaling, reprogram tumor‐derived sEV cargo, reduce chemoresistance and migration, and enhance carboplatin efficacy and survival in ...

Active distribution network feeder loop closing current assessment based on DK2-PLF

open access: yes电力工程技术
The research of loop closing current assessment has great significance for distribution network feeder loop closing operation to supply power. In order to enhance the accuracy of active distribution network feeder loop closing current calculation, an ...
