Isolation and Characterization of Three Unrecorded Zygomycete Fungi in Korea: Cunninghamella bertholletiae, Cunninghamella echinulata, and Cunninghamella elegans. [PDF]

open access: yesMycobiology, 2017
In a survey of undiscovered taxa in Korea, three zygomycete fungal strains-EML-W31, EML-HGD1-1, and EML-RUS1-1-were isolated from freshwater, grasshopper fecal, and soil samples in Korea. On the basis of the morphological characteristics and phylogenetic analysis of internal transcribed spacer and 28S rDNA, the isolates of EML-W31, EML-HGD1-1, and EML ...

Metabolism of naphthalene by Cunninghamella elegans [PDF]

open access: yesApplied and Environmental Microbiology, 1977
Cunninghamella elegans grown on Sabouraud dextrose broth in the presence of naphthalene produced six metabolites. Each product was isolated and identified by conventional chemical techniques. The major metabolites were 1-naphthol (67.9%) and 4-hydroxy-1-tetralone (16.7%). Minor products isolated were 1,4-naphthoquinone (2.8%), 1,2-naphthoquinone (0.2%),

The Emergence and Properties of Selectively Fluorinated ‘Janus’ Cyclohexanes

open access: yesThe Chemical Record, Volume 23, Issue 9, September 2023., 2023
Janus face cyclohexanes offer a novel motif in organic chemistry that demonstrate the unexpectedly high polarity of partially fluorinated alkyl substituents. In the form of cyclohexane rings they offer new options for low Log P substituents in medicinal chemistry and they present exciting options for supramolecular assembly.

Omega‐6: Its Pharmacology, Effect on the Broiler Production, and Health

open access: yesVeterinary Medicine International, Volume 2023, Issue 1, 2023., 2023
Lipids and oils are the primary sources of monounsaturated and polyunsaturated fatty acids (MUFA and PUFA), which are necessary for human and animal health. Omega‐3 and omega‐6 are essential nutrients for broilers. Omega‐6 members, such as linolenic acid, are essential for broilers and must be obtained through feed.

Fungal metabolism of acenaphthene by Cunninghamella elegans [PDF]

open access: yesApplied and Environmental Microbiology, 1992
The filamentous fungus Cunninghamella elegans ATCC 36112 metabolized within 72 h of incubation approximately 64% of the [1,8-14C]acenaphthene added. The radioactive metabolites were extracted with ethyl acetate and separated by thin-layer chromatography and reversed-phase high-performance liquid chromatography.

Statistical optimization of arachidonic acid synthesis by Mortierella alpina CBS 754.68 in a solid‐state fermenter

open access: yesFood Science &Nutrition, Volume 10, Issue 2, Page 436-444, February 2022., 2022
The present study optimizes arachidonic acid production by the soil fungus Mortierella alpina CBS 754.68 on oil cakes. The research was performed in five stages: the selection of a suitable substrate, the screening and optimization of the most effective variables with two statistical methods, a response surface methodology assessment, and an ...

Systemic antifungal therapy with isavuconazonium sulfate or other agents in adults with invasive mucormycosis or invasive aspergillosis (non‐fumigatus): A multicentre, non‐interventional registry study

open access: yesMycoses, Volume 65, Issue 2, Page 186-198, February 2022., 2022
Abstract Background Isavuconazole, administered as isavuconazonium sulfate (ISAVUSULF), is a broad‐spectrum triazole agent for the treatment of invasive fungal disease. In phase 3 studies, ISAVUSULF showed comparable efficacy to voriconazole and amphotericin B for the treatment of invasive aspergillosis (IA) and invasive mucormycosis (IM), respectively.

Transformation of amoxapine by Cunninghamella elegans. [PDF]

open access: yesAppl Environ Microbiol, 2000
ABSTRACT We examined Cunninghamella elegans to determine its ability to transform amoxapine, a tricyclic antidepressant belonging to the dibenzoxazepine class of drugs. Approximately 57% of the exogenous amoxapine was metabolized to three metabolites that were isolated by high-performance liquid ...
