Reforestación con Cupressus lusitanica y su influencia en la diversidad del bosque de pino-encino en Los Altos de Chiapas, México

open access: yesBotan‪ical Sciences, 2013
El uso extendido de Cupressus lusitanica para reforestar áreas degradadas puede reducir la riqueza y diversidad de bosques húmedos de montaña. Se comparó la composición y estructura de la vegetación leñosa de un área reforestada con C.

Native trees are related to advanced bird breeding phenology and increased reproductive success along an urban gradient

open access: yesEcology, Volume 107, Issue 1, January 2026.
Abstract Urban areas are altered from natural landscapes in several ways that can impact wildlife. Birds are widespread in urban areas, and it is well documented that there are phenotypic differences between urban and non‐urban conspecifics. However, little is known about which characteristics of the urban environment are driving differences. We used 9

Breakdown Characteristics of Natural Ester‐Mineral Oil Blended Insulating Oils Under Cryogenic Conditions: Influence of Mixing Ratios and Moisture Migration Mechanisms

open access: yesThe Journal of Engineering, Volume 2026, Issue 1, January/December 2026.
This study concentrates on the breakdown characteristics of blended insulation oil in low ‐ temperature conditions, employing the Weibull distribution to analyse the effects of mixture ratio and moisture content on breakdown voltage. It also simulates water molecule movement in two different oil bases using COMSOL software.

Sesquiterpenes from Cupressus macrocarpa foliage [PDF]

open access: yesPhytochemistry, 2005
Ten sesquiterpenes, many with unusual carbon skeletons, were identified in foliage of Cupressus macrocarpa. These are (-)-10-epi-beta-acoradiene; ent-widdra-2,4(14)-diene; (E)-iso-gamma-bisabolene, i.e., (4E)-4-(1,5-dimethylhex-5-enylidene)-1-methylcyclohexene; (-)-cumacrene, i.e., (4S)-4-[(1R,2S)-2-isopropenyl-1-methylcyclobutyl]-1-methylcyclohexene; (

Weak global trade‐off between frost and drought resistance in trees

open access: yesNew Phytologist, Volume 249, Issue 2, Page 810-828, January 2026.
Summary Drought and frost stresses play important roles in determining species distributions, especially at range margins. Understanding how stress resistance traits interact to determine vulnerability to climate change is critical. We developed a large global database of published and new measurements of drought resistance (xylem embolism resistance ...

Factors Determining Households’ Decision to Practice Homegarden Agroforestry in Burie District, Northwestern Ethiopia

open access: yesInternational Journal of Forestry Research, Volume 2026, Issue 1, 2026.
Homegarden agroforestry is one of the oldest farming practices in Ethiopia and the tropics, and is regarded as an economically sound and environmentally sustainable land use system. Despite a presumed high potential to improve the livelihoods of billions and maintain ecological stability, its adoption and implementation by farmers remain limited. Hence,

Stem Volume Allometric Models for Eucalyptus camaldulensis Plantation in Jabi Tehnan District, Northwestern Ethiopia

open access: yesInternational Journal of Forestry Research, Volume 2026, Issue 1, 2026.
Accurate estimation of forest volume in plantation forests can be made through species‐specific models. However, such models are scarce in Africa, particularly in Ethiopia. This study aimed to determine the form factor and develop an improved species‐specific volume model for Eucalyptus camaldulensis in Jabi Tehnan district, Northwestern Ethiopia.

Producing Urban Aerobiological Risk Map for Cupressaceae Family in the SW Iberian Peninsula from LiDAR Technology

open access: yesRemote Sensing, 2020
Given the rise in the global population and the consequently high levels of pollution, urban green areas, such as those that include plants in the Cupressaceae family, are suitable to reduce the pollution levels, improving the air quality.
