A review of non‐native scale insects (Hemiptera: Coccomorpha: Coccoidea) of Australia and the challenges in maintaining current and accurate pest lists

open access: yesAustral Entomology, Volume 65, Issue 1, February 2026.
Abstract Over 870 species of scale insects, also called coccoids (infraorder Coccomorpha), have been recorded from Australia. Here, we systematically review literature, databases and collections to provide a revised assessment of non‐native species to Australia, for which we confirm those species that are introduced and extant in Australia (including ...

Ethnobotanical survey of pesticidal plants used in South Uganda : case study of Masaka district [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Use of synthetic pesticides in developing countries is not only limited by their being expensive but also the small (uneconomic) fields whose limited production costs cannot offset costs of agricultural implements like agro-chemicals. Subsistence farmers,

Tree Biomass Sensitivity to Ozone Exposure: Insights From a Decade of Free‐Air Experiments

open access: yesGlobal Change Biology, Volume 32, Issue 2, February 2026.
Using a decade of free‐air controlled exposure (FACE) experiments across 17 woody taxa, we evaluated biomass responses to O3 uptake using flux‐based metrics. Increasing phytotoxic ozone dose (POD1) caused consistent declines in relative total (RTB), aboveground (RTAB), and belowground (RTBB) biomass.

Native trees are related to advanced bird breeding phenology and increased reproductive success along an urban gradient

open access: yesEcology, Volume 107, Issue 1, January 2026.
Abstract Urban areas are altered from natural landscapes in several ways that can impact wildlife. Birds are widespread in urban areas, and it is well documented that there are phenotypic differences between urban and non‐urban conspecifics. However, little is known about which characteristics of the urban environment are driving differences. We used 9

Breakdown Characteristics of Natural Ester‐Mineral Oil Blended Insulating Oils Under Cryogenic Conditions: Influence of Mixing Ratios and Moisture Migration Mechanisms

open access: yesThe Journal of Engineering, Volume 2026, Issue 1, January/December 2026.
This study concentrates on the breakdown characteristics of blended insulation oil in low ‐ temperature conditions, employing the Weibull distribution to analyse the effects of mixture ratio and moisture content on breakdown voltage. It also simulates water molecule movement in two different oil bases using COMSOL software.
