A Factor Controlling ß-Thujaplicin Production in Suspension Culture of Cupressus Lusitanica

2001
ABSTRACT Suspension cell culture of Cupressus lusitanaca produce s-thujaplicin, a heart wood tropolone. The product inhibition in the s-thujaplicin biosynthesis was investigated in the present paper. Initial cell density al the beginning in the culture did not affect the s-thujaplicin accumulation level, and the initial addition of s-thujaplicin to

New growth models for Cupressus lusitanica and Pinus patula in Kenya

2000
Stand growth and yield models for Cupressus lusitanica and Pinus patula grown in Kenya were revised, and growth trajectories in Uasin Gishu, Elburgon, Njoro, Kiambu, Nyeri and Mt. Kenya regions were identified. Permanent sample plot data collected between 1964 and 1985 were used for the analyses. Growth functions in difference equation form were fitted

Susceptibility evaluation of Picea abies and Cupressus lusitanica to the pine wood nematode (Bursaphelenchus xylophilus)

Plant Pathology, 2013
Pine wilt disease (PWD), recently introduced into Europe, is caused by the pine wood nematode (PWN) Bursaphelenchus xylophilus and is a devastating illness that affects mainly pine trees. It is known that the PWN is capable of infecting other conifers; however, there is currently no information on which other plant species may be susceptible to PWD. In

Forest soil phosphorus availabilty to seedlings of pinus patula and cupressus lusitanica

2011
In a preliminary study, different amounts of iron and aluminum phosphates were added to Bf and Ah horizon materials, and potassium phosphate was added to a mixed L-F-H horizon material. The soil materials were then incubated for 16 days and analysed for extractable Al, Fe and P (Olsen's method).
