Role of Forest Ecosystems in Climate Regulation and Disaster Risk Reduction in Dawro Zone, South West Ethiopia

open access: yesInternational Journal of Forestry Research, Volume 2026, Issue 1, 2026.
Forest ecosystems play a critical role in climate regulation and disaster risk reduction (DRR), particularly in mountainous regions that are highly vulnerable to climate‐induced hazards. This study evaluates the contribution of forest ecosystems to carbon sequestration, microclimate regulation, and mitigation of floods and landslides in Dawro Zone ...

Stem Volume Allometric Models for Eucalyptus camaldulensis Plantation in Jabi Tehnan District, Northwestern Ethiopia

open access: yesInternational Journal of Forestry Research, Volume 2026, Issue 1, 2026.
Accurate estimation of forest volume in plantation forests can be made through species‐specific models. However, such models are scarce in Africa, particularly in Ethiopia. This study aimed to determine the form factor and develop an improved species‐specific volume model for Eucalyptus camaldulensis in Jabi Tehnan district, Northwestern Ethiopia.

The Role of Participatory Forest Management on Forest Composition, Diversity, and Regeneration: A Study of Guangua Elala Forest, Northwestern Ethiopia

open access: yesInternational Journal of Forestry Research, Volume 2026, Issue 1, 2026.
Participatory forest management (PFM) is increasingly recognized as an effective approach for forest conservation and sustainable resource use in Ethiopia, yet empirical evidence of its ecological outcomes remains limited. This study assessed the effects of PFM on forest composition, diversity, and regeneration in the Guangua Elala Forest, Northwestern

Cell growth and nutrient uptake by cell suspensions of Cupressus lusitanica

open access: yesJournal of Wood Science, 2003
Conditions for cell growth of suspension cultures of Cupressus lusitanica, which has high β-thujaplicin productivity, were studied. The medium that provided the highest growth rate was IS-1 medium (pH 5.5), modified from Gamborg B5 medium containing 32 mM of total nitrogen. Its NO3-N/NH4-N ratio was 30 : 2.
