WikiPathways: building research communities on biological pathways. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Here, we describe the development of WikiPathways (http://www.wikipathways.org), a public wiki for pathway curation, since it was first published in 2008. New features are discussed, as well as developments in the community of contributors.

Screening for lung cancer: A systematic review of overdiagnosis and its implications

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Low‐dose computed tomography (CT) screening for lung cancer may increase overdiagnosis compared to no screening, though the risk is likely low versus chest X‐ray. Our review of 8 trials (84 660 participants) shows added costs. Further research with strict adherence to modern nodule management strategies may help determine the extent to which ...

Miscellaneous earthworm types in the Natural History Museum, London (Annelida: Oligochaet a: Megadrilacea: Eudrilidae, Lumbricidae, Megascolecidae, Moniligastridae, Octochaetidae) [PDF]

open access: yesOpuscula Zoologica Instituti Zoosystematici et Oecologici Universitatis Budapestinensis, 2014
Recently restored Lumbricus terrestris Linnaeus, 1758 neotype (NHM Register No. 1973.1.1) is described in greater detail. A lectotype is designated for Amynthas morrisi (Beddard, 1892) and an informal A. morrisi clonal speciescomplex is proposed.

O pluralismo pós-utópico da arte

open access: yesARS, 2009
Em meados dos anos 1980, alguns autores, entre eles Arthur Danto, defenderam ideias que convergiam para a proclamação do fim da arte. Esse período histórico coincidia com a explosão dos estilos pós-modernos nas artes e com os debates filosóficos e ...

Extracting, Transforming and Archiving Scientific Data [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
It is becoming common to archive research datasets that are not only large but also numerous. In addition, their corresponding metadata and the software required to analyse or display them need to be archived. Yet the manual curation of research data can

Intein‐based modular chimeric antigen receptor platform for specific CD19/CD20 co‐targeting

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
CARtein is a modular CAR platform that uses split inteins to splice antigen‐recognition modules onto a universal signaling backbone, enabling precise, scarless assembly without re‐engineering signaling domains. Deployed here against CD19 and CD20 in B‐cell malignancies, the design supports flexible multi‐antigen targeting to boost T‐cell activation and

Weather Radar Detection and Analysis of Bolides in the Day or Night

open access: yesAdvances in Astronomy
Weather radars have proven to be valuable tools for detection and analysis of meteorite falls, specifically identifying and analyzing falling meteorites which have survived the initial fireball.

Improving PARP inhibitor efficacy in bladder cancer without genetic BRCAness by combination with PLX51107

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Clinical trials on PARP inhibitors in urothelial carcinoma (UC) showed limited efficacy and a lack of predictive biomarkers. We propose SLFN5, SLFN11, and OAS1 as UC‐specific response predictors. We suggest Talazoparib as the better PARP inhibitor for UC than Olaparib.

Class IIa HDACs forced degradation allows resensitization of oxaliplatin‐resistant FBXW7‐mutated colorectal cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
HDAC4 is degraded by the E3 ligase FBXW7. In colorectal cancer, FBXW7 mutations prevent HDAC4 degradation, leading to oxaliplatin resistance. Forced degradation of HDAC4 using a PROTAC compound restores drug sensitivity by resetting the super‐enhancer landscape, reprogramming the epigenetic state of FBXW7‐mutated cells to resemble oxaliplatin ...
