Characterization of composites based on recycled expanded polystyrene reinforced with curaua fibers

Journal of Applied Polymer Science, 2012
AbstractThis study evaluated the mechanical, thermal, rheological, and morphological properties of virgin and recycled matrices and their composites with 20 wt % of curaua fiber. The recycling process of postconsumer polystyrene was carried out by grinding and extrusion.

The durability of SHCC with alkali treated curaua fiber exposed to natural weathering

Cement and Concrete Composites, 2018
Abstract This work presents the durability studies carried on strain-hardening cement-based composites reinforced with 4% of 40 mm alkali treated natural curaua fiber. The collected results present the influence of natural weathering periods of 6 and 12 months on the composite tensile properties.

Effects of Fiber Treatment on the Properties of Epoxy Curaua-Reinforced Composites

2018
Natural fiber research is getting attention worldwide due to its sustainability and ecofriendly nature. It combines low density and interesting properties. Curaua fiber is an abundant natural fiber, which has low cost and several applications. The mechanical properties have a strong dependence on the interface adhesion between the fiber and the polymer

Thermal Analysis of Curaua Fiber Reinforced Epoxy Matrix Composites

2016
Thermoset polymers, like the epoxy, become harder with increasing temperature owing to molecular crosslink formation, which is a thermal benefit for composite matrix applications. Natural lignocellulosic fibers, however, have low thermal resistance and tend to degrade with increasing temperature.

Tensile and Impact Properties of Two Fiber Configurations for Curaua Reinforced Composites

2017
Natural fibers have been extensively investigated in the past decades, due to their good properties, lightweight, low cost and renewable nature. From the ananas erectifolius plant, high strength and high modulus curaua fibers can be obtained. Their remarkable properties make them adequate to several high performance applications.
