Modelling and monitoring of resin transfer moulding [PDF]

open access: yes, 2000
Modelling and monitoring tools appropriate for the resin transfer moulding composites manufacturing route were developed in this study. A simulation of the curing stage of the process based on a finite elements solution of the non-linear heat ...

Historical Epistemology as Disability Studies Methodology: From the Models Framework to Foucault’s Archaeology of Cure

open access: yesFoucault Studies, 2015
In this article, I argue for historical epistemology as a methodology for critical disability studies (DS) by examining Foucault’s archaeology of cure in History of Madness.

Organoids in pediatric cancer research

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Organoid technology has revolutionized cancer research, yet its application in pediatric oncology remains limited. Recent advances have enabled the development of pediatric tumor organoids, offering new insights into disease biology, treatment response, and interactions with the tumor microenvironment.

Reciprocal control of viral infection and phosphoinositide dynamics

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Phosphoinositides, although scarce, regulate key cellular processes, including membrane dynamics and signaling. Viruses exploit these lipids to support their entry, replication, assembly, and egress. The central role of phosphoinositides in infection highlights phosphoinositide metabolism as a promising antiviral target.

Transanal Minimally Invasive Surgery for Rectal Cancer

open access: yesSouth Asian Journal of Cancer
Transanal minimally invasive surgery (TAMIS) is considered a standard of care in rectal cancers. Its advantage is that it is organ preserving. Its main role is in early-stage cancers limited to the rectum (T1N0M0).

A cure for burnout [PDF]

open access: yesScience, 2019
“I am going to be on sabbatical at the same time!” I exclaimed to my former Ph.D. adviser. My certainty surprised me. I had recently earned tenure and become eligible for a sabbatical, but I had hesitated to take one. A break from teaching to focus on my research sounded nice in theory, but the truth was that I felt burned out on my science.

Phosphatidylinositol 4‐kinase as a target of pathogens—friend or foe?

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This graphical summary illustrates the roles of phosphatidylinositol 4‐kinases (PI4Ks). PI4Ks regulate key cellular processes and can be hijacked by pathogens, such as viruses, bacteria and parasites, to support their intracellular replication. Their dual role as essential host enzymes and pathogen cofactors makes them promising drug targets.

Modelling heat generation and transfer during cure of thermoset composites processed by resin transfer moulding (RTM) [PDF]

open access: yes, 1997
The development of a heat transfer model for the curing stage of the RTM process is presented. Despite the intense interest in the modelling and simulation of this process the relevant work is currently limited to development of flow models of the ...
