The technic of curettage surgery [PDF]
Curettage is the most common surgical procedure carried out by dermatologists, yet the mechanics of curettage surgery are seldom described in standard textbooks or emphasized in the literature. The procedure for curettage is discussed and the mechanics of two technics, the pencil technic and the potato peeler technic, are described.

Electrodesiccation and Curettage
2009Curettage alone or in combination with electrodesiccation has been used for the treatment of skin cancer. While the curette was developed in the 1870s, electrodesiccation was first used in 1911 by Clark when a high-voltage, low-current electrode was applied to the skin and resulted in drying of tissue.

Endometrial curettage has long been used to obtain tissue for histological examination in women after the menopause in order to make a diagnosis and exclude pre-malignant and malignant disease. In recent times, office-based, miniature endometrial biopsy devices have largely replaced formal curettage because they are more convenient and are considered ...

Electrodesiccation and Curettage
1988Electrodesiccation is the effect produced by a highfrequency (500,000-1,000,000 Hz) alternating electrical current of comparatively high voltage (2,000 or more volts) and low amperage (100-1,000 mA) using one active electrode (1). The oscillations are damped, that is, the intensity of the voltage rapidly diminishes with each oscillation followed by a ...

Endocervical Curettage in Cervical Evaluation
Journal of Lower Genital Tract Disease, 2000To evaluate the role of endocervical curettage (ECC) in the diagnosis of cervical intraepithelial neoplasia.Retrospectively we studied 581 patients who had ECC, 43 (7.4%) had cervical intraepithelial lesions (CIN) 1 ECC, 23 (4.0%) CIN 2-3 ECC, and 515 negative ECC (88.6%).

Reproducibility of Endocervical Curettage Diagnoses
Obstetrics & Gynecology, 2011To estimate overall interobserver variability of histopathology diagnoses on endocervical curettage (ECC) specimens.Five study pathologists, blinded to the original diagnosis, reviewed archived ECC specimens initially interpreted as normal, low-grade dysplasia, and high-grade dysplasia.

Necessity of endocervical curettage in colposcopy
American Journal of Obstetrics and Gynecology, 1986The use of endocervical curettage was evaluated in 200 patients undergoing colposcopy, biopsy, endocervical curettage, and conization. It is suggested that endocervical curettage be performed only in cases of satisfactory colposcopy, since patients with unsatisfactory colposcopy should undergo conization.

VACUUM CURETTAGE OF THE UTERUS WlTHOUT ANAESTHESIA
BJOG: An International Journal of Obstetrics & Gynaecology, 1972SummaryA comparison has been made of the histologinal appearances of the endometrium of 73 patients undergoing vacuum curettage of the uterus without anaesthesia followed by conventional curettage under general anaesthesia a day later. Vacuum curettage specimens may show epithelial cell cytoplasmic vacuolation which may falsely suggest that ovulation ...
