The Curie point-depth, frequently related to the depth to the bottom of the magnetic source, is widely employed as an estimator of temperature at depth when borehole temperature data are not available. The Curie point-depth is calculated using the spectral analysis of the magnetic data derived from aeromagnetic or satellite surveys.

Curie Point Depth of the Island of Crete (Greece)
Pure and Applied Geophysics, 1998—The aeromagnetic data of the island of Crete were inverted to produce Curie point estimates. The data were high-pass filtered to remove components arising from topography and magnetic core fields which were not adequately modeled by IGRF. The depth to the centroid, z 0 , of the deepest distribution of the magnetic dipoles, was

Estimation of Curie point depth and geothermal gradient in parts of the Bida Basin, Nigeria
Journal of Environmental Engineering and Science, 2022The purpose of this work is to estimate the Curie point depth, heat flow and geothermal gradient from spectral analysis of aeromagnetic data over the Bida and Baro areas, Bida Basin, north central Nigeria. The area covered is approximately 6050 km2 and bounded by latitudes 8° 30′ and 9° 30′ north and longitudes 6° 0′ and 6° 30′ east.

Curie Point Depth Estimates and Correlation with Subduction in Mexico
Pure and Applied Geophysics, 2010We investigate the regional thermal structure of the crust in Mexico using Curie Point Depth (CPD) estimates. The top and bottom of the magnetized crust were calculated using the power-density spectra of the total magnetic field from the freely available “Magnetic Anomaly Map of North America”.

Curie point depths of the island of Kyushu and surrounding areas, Japan
Geophysics, 1985Abstract As part of a comprehensive, nationwide evaluation of geothermal resources for Japan, the first of the Curie point depth maps, covering the island of Kyushu, has been prepared. The map was created by inverting gridded, regional aeromagnetic data.

Interpretation of aeromagnetic data for estimation of Curie point depth in Sokoto Basin, Nigeria
Journal of Environmental Engineering and Science, 2020This research studied the estimation of the Curie point depth isotherm using aeromagnetic data across Sokoto Basin, Northwest, Nigeria. The study area lies within the longitudes of 3–7° east and latitudes of 10–14° north. The residual–regional separation was carried out on the total magnetic intensity using polynomial fitting of the second order.

Estimation of Curie point depth in southwestern Yemen from spectral analysis of aeromagnetic data
Arabian Journal of Geosciences, 2020Curie point depths in southwestern Yemen were determined from radially averaged power spectra of the reduced to the pole aeromagnetic data by the modified centroid method. The results show that shallow CPD zones occurred in the western and southeastern parts of the area associated mainly with Tertiary and Quaternary volcanic regions, respectively.

Correlation of Curie point depths, heat flow data and geothermal modeling for Bulgarian territory
5th Congress of Balkan Geophysical Society, 2009The basal depth of the magnetic layer (Curie point depths) of Bulgarian territory was calculated using interpretation of geomagnetic field observation and a map of the variations of this border was produced for the first time. The magnetic layer bottom thus obtained has “normal” (28-32km) values in the Moesian platform and central part of Bulgaria ...

Curie-point depth from spectral analysis of magnetic data in central–southern Europe
Physics of the Earth and Planetary Interiors, 2005Abstract The basal depth of the outer layer with internal magnetic sources was calculated from magnetic data available within a roughly 500 km wide and 1200 km long area, running from central Germany to southern Italy. The dataset, deriving from different aeromagnetic surveys, is reduced to the reference altitude of 3000 m a.s.l. and a reference year
