Temperature Structure of the Icelandic Crust from Curie Point Depth

We present a Curie point depth map that casts light on the deep crustal temperature structure and can provide insights into the mechanisms of Iceland's formation. We used high-precision aeromagnetic anomaly data and a robust inversion algorithm. Curie point depth ranges from 4 to 28 km.

Curie Point Depths in North China Craton Based on Spectral Analysis of Magnetic Anomalies

Pure and Applied Geophysics, 2016
Magnetic anomaly analysis is an important method to study the structure of deep crust. With the assumption of random magnetization sources, the structure of a magnetic layer can be inverted via spectral analysis. Curie point depth (CPD), the depth at which rocks lose their ferromagnetic properties, is the bottom of a magnetic layer.

Curie point depth in northeast Japan and its correlation with regional thermal structure and seismicity

Journal of Geophysical Research: Solid Earth, 1994
Heat flow measurements are high on the back arc side and low on the forearc side of the Tohoku arc, but convective heat transfer in volcanic areas affects the heat flow measurements, complicating the determination of the thermal structure from heat flow measurements alone.

Estimating the Curie Point Depth Using Magnetic Field Data to Assess the Geothermal Potential

Proceedings, 2017
Summary New technologies that allow geothermal energy production in colder conditions result in interest for geothermal exploration in low heat flux regions. The Province of Quebec, eastern Canada, is such a case. Mapping the Curie point depth (CPD) is appealing as an exploration tool due to the scarcity of the direct data.

Curie point depth in the SW Caribbean using the radially averaged spectra of magnetic anomalies

Tectonophysics, 2017
Abstract We have estimated the Curie Point Depth (CPD) using the average radial power spectrum in a tectonically complex area located in the SW Caribbean basin. Data analyzed came from the World Digital Magnetic Anomaly Map, and three methods have been used to compare results and evaluate uncertainties: Centroid, Spectral Peak, and Forward Modeling ...

Investigation of Curie Point Depth in Sulu Ultrahigh-Pressure Metamorphic Belt, Eastern China

Journal of China University of Geosciences, 2008
Abstract The Curie point depth of continental crust can reflect the regional tectonic pattern and geothermal structures. Analysis of magnetism is an efficient way to obtain the Curie point depth on a regional scale. This study systematically investigated the Curie point depth of Sulu ultrahigh pressure (UHP) metamorphic belt (33°40′N to 36°20′N and ...

A Continental Model of Curie Point Depth for China and Surroundings Based on Equivalent Source Method

Journal of Geophysical Research: Solid Earth
Abstract The Curie Point Depth (CPD) marks a significant temperature boundary (∼580°C) within the Earth's lithosphere. However, there has been ongoing debate regarding its spatial distribution. In this research, we utilized the Equivalent Source Method (ESM) based on Gauss‐Legendre integration and data obtained ...

An attempt to define Curie point depths in Greece from aeromagnetic and heat flow data

pure and applied geophysics, 1991
The objective of this study is to understand the nature and extent of the regional geothermal system at depth beneath the area of Greece by constructing the Curie isotherms. Spectral analysis of aeromagnetic data in conjunction with heat flow information revealed an almost inverse linear relation between heat flow and Curie depths and was used to ...
