The role of miR‐335‐5p in the redifferentiation of BRAF p.V600E thyroid cancers

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The BRAF p.V600E mutation promotes thyroid cancer dedifferentiation and radioiodine resistance. Using a network approach, we identified miR‐335‐5p as a key regulator of BRAF‐mutated thyroid tumors. Restoring miR‐335‐5p increased thyroid‐specific gene expression and iodine uptake in cells and organoids.

Effect of High-Irradiance Light-Curing on Micromechanical Properties of Resin Cements. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
This study investigated the influence of light-curing at high irradiances on micromechanical properties of resin cements. Three dual-curing resin cements and a light-curing flowable resin composite were light-cured with an LED curing unit in Standard ...

MEASUREMENT OF MAGNETIC FIELDS EMITTED FROM WELDING MACHINES

open access: yesDiyala Journal of Engineering Sciences, 2011
The electric arc welding process makes use of the heat produced by the electric arc to fusion weld metallic pieces. An electric arc is formed when an electric current passes between two electrodes separated by a short distance from each other.

TRAIL‐PEG‐Apt‐PLGA nanosystem as an aptamer‐targeted drug delivery system potential for triple‐negative breast cancer therapy using in vivo mouse model

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Aptamers are used both therapeutically and as targeting agents in cancer treatment. We developed an aptamer‐targeted PLGA–TRAIL nanosystem that exhibited superior therapeutic efficacy in NOD/SCID breast cancer models. This nanosystem represents a novel biotechnological drug candidate for suppressing resistance development in breast cancer.

Curing vinyl ester particle-reinforced composites using microwaves

open access: yes, 2003
Composites made from vinyl ester resins suffer considerable shrinkage during curing and after solidification. This project attempts to reduce the shrinkage of the components by shortening the curing time of the resins using penetrating microwave energy ...

Chemical Shrinkage Characterization during Curing through Three-Dimensional Digital Image Correlation

open access: yes, 2023
Chemical shrinkage in thermosetting polymers drives residual stress development and induces residual deformation in composite materials. Accurate characterization of chemical shrinkage during curing is therefore vital to minimize residual stresses ...

Methodology for Determining the Correct Ultrasonic Pulse Velocity in Concrete

open access: yesBuildings
Quite often, concrete strength parameters must be determined in the shortest possible time. Due to the strong correlation between concrete’s mechanical and acoustic properties, ultrasonic devices can be used for this purpose.

A cure for burnout [PDF]

open access: yesScience, 2019
“I am going to be on sabbatical at the same time!” I exclaimed to my former Ph.D. adviser. My certainty surprised me. I had recently earned tenure and become eligible for a sabbatical, but I had hesitated to take one. A break from teaching to focus on my research sounded nice in theory, but the truth was that I felt burned out on my science.

COMP–PMEPA1 axis promotes epithelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition in breast cancer cells

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study reveals that cartilage oligomeric matrix protein (COMP) promotes epithelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition (EMT) in breast cancer. We identify PMEPA1 (protein TMEPAI) as a novel COMP‐binding partner that mediates EMT via binding to the TSP domains of COMP, establishing the COMP–PMEPA1 axis as a key EMT driver in breast cancer.

Rapid microwave processing of epoxy nanocomposites using carbon nanotubes

open access: yes, 2013
Microwave processing is one of the rapid processing techniques for manufacturing nanocomposites. There is very little work focussing on the addition of CNTs for shortening the curing time of epoxy nanocomposites. Using microwave energy, the effect of CNT
