Modeling excess hazard with time--to--cure as a parameter [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2019
Cure models have been widely developed to estimate the cure fraction when some subjects never experience the event of interest. However these models were rarely focused on the estimation of the time-to-cure i.e. the delay elapsed between the diagnosis and "the time from which cure is reached", an important indicator, for instance to address the ...

B cell mechanobiology in health and disease: emerging techniques and insights into therapeutic responses

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
B cells sense external mechanical forces and convert them into biochemical signals through mechanotransduction. Understanding how malignant B cells respond to physical stimuli represents a groundbreaking area of research. This review examines the key mechano‐related molecules and pathways in B lymphocytes, highlights the most relevant techniques to ...

The effect of selected lactic acid bacterial strains on the technological and microbiological quality of mechanically separated poultry meat cured with a reduced amount of sodium nitrite

open access: yesPoultry Science, 2021
The aim of the research was to estimate the effect of selected lactic acid bacterial strains on the technological quality and microbiological stability of mechanically separated poultry meat (MSPM) cured with a reduced amount of sodium nitrite.

There is a cure

open access: yesNew Scientist, 2017
Allen talks about the winter crises in the UK's National Health Service. In one sense, the NHS is a victim of its own success: survival rates for childhood illness, heart attacks and cancers have risen. The result is a growing, greying cohort with multiple chronic conditions, whose needs put pressure on family doctors. Exacerbating this is a failure to

"CREDULITY AND CURES" [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of the American Medical Association, 1920
To the Editor: —The admirable article of Dr. Frederick Peterson (The Journal, Dec. 6, 1919, p. 1737) is so clearly and entertainingly written and, on the whole, so sane and strong, that a certain error in it might, if not corrected, tend to do much harm by misleading practicing physicians.

The thioredoxin‐like and one glutaredoxin domain are required to rescue the iron‐starvation phenotype of HeLa GLRX3 knock out cells

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Glutaredoxin (Grx) 3 proteins contain a thioredoxin domain and one to three class II Grx domains. These proteins play a crucial role in iron homeostasis in eukaryotic cells. In human Grx3, at least one of the two Grx domains, together with the thioredoxin domain, is essential for its function in iron metabolism.

P‐glycoprotein modulates the fluidity gradient of the plasma membrane of multidrug resistant CHO cells

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
To explore the impact of the overexpression of the multidrug‐transporter P‐glycoprotein (ABCB1) on membrane fluidity, we compared the transversal gradient of mobility and microviscosity in plasma membranes of drug‐sensitive Chinese hamster ovary cells (AuxB1) and their multidrug‐resistant derivatives (B30) using the fluorescent n‐(9‐anthroyloxy) fatty ...

Curing of off-stoichiometric amine–epoxy thermosets [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
The kinetics of the epoxy–amine polycondensation and the epoxy homopolymerization in off-stoichiometric epoxy/amine formulations with excess of epoxy groups, and in the presence of an anionic initiator have been investigated.

Purification tags markedly affect self‐aggregation of CPEB3

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Although recombinant proteins are used to study protein aggregation in vitro, uncleaved tags can interfere with accurate interpretation. Our findings demonstrate that His₆‐GFP and His₁₂ tags significantly affect liquid droplet and amyloid fibril formation in the intrinsically disordered region (IDR) of mouse cytoplasmic polyadenylation element‐binding ...
