Effect of curing regime on the performance and microstructure characteristics of alkali-activated slag-fly ash blended concrete

, 2021
The use of alkali-activated materials to produce concrete is a promising technology. However, information on the optimum curing regime required to maximize the performance of such concrete is lacking. This paper examines the fresh and hardened properties

Thermal characteristics of addition-cure phenolic resins

Polymer Degradation and Stability, 2001
Abstract The thermal and pyrolysis characteristics of four different types of addition-cure phenolic resins were compared as a function of their structure. Whereas the propargyl ether resins and phenyl azo functional phenolics underwent easy curing, the phenyl ethynyl- and maleimide-functional ones required higher thermal activation to achieve cure ...

Portland cement curing and volume characteristics

IEEE Transactions on Power Apparatus and Systems, 1977
This paper describes the volume change characteristics of neat portland cement paste as used in the assembly of high voltage porcelain insulators. Many tests were made to determine volume changes under a variety of physical conditions. The effect on the electrical and mechanical integrity of the insulators subjected to these cement volume changes was ...

The impact mechanical characteristics of steam-cured concrete under different curing temperature conditions

Construction and Building Materials, 2020
Abstract In order to clarify the influence of curing temperature on the dynamic properties of steam-cured concrete, series of SHPB tests were conducted to investigate the impact mechanical characteristics of a typical steam-cured concrete applied in prefabricated components of high-speed railway in China. The index of fineness modulus was proposed to

Thermal characteristics of curing acrylic bone cement

ITBM-RBM, 2001
Abstract Commercial acrylic bone cements are supplied as two components, a polymer powder and a liquid monomer. Mixing of the two components is followed by a progressive polymerisation of the liquid monomer to yield a solid mass, a high level of heat being generated during this exothermic reaction. The exposure of bone to high temperatures has led to

Curing characteristics of resol-layered silicate nanocomposites

Thermochimica Acta, 2008
The influence of the presence of montmorillonite (unmodified and modified) within a resol resin on curing of nanocomposites was studied by differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR). The acid nature of the clay seems to accelerate primary oxidation processes of resol resin at used temperatures.

Fiber-optic epoxy composite cure sensor II Performance characteristics

Applied Optics, 1995
The performance of a fiber-optic epoxy composite cure sensor, as previously proposed, depends on the optical properties and the reaction kinetics of the epoxy. The reaction kinetics of a typical epoxy system are presented. It is a third-order autocatalytic reaction with a peak observed in each isothermal reaction-rate curve.

Curing characteristics of anaerobic sealants and adhesives

British Polymer Journal, 1983
AbstractDuring the past 20 years the usage of anaerobic‐curing sealants and adhesives has grown rapidly from almost nothing to an estimated 1500 tonnes per annum. An annual growth rate in excess of 10% is predicted throughout the present decade. In this paper, the gradual improvement in the performance characteristics of these systems is traced, from ...

Cure Characteristics, Morphology and Mechanical Properties of Partially Cured NBR Blended with NR

Advanced Materials Research, 2013
This research is aimed to study the effect of partially cured acrylonitrile butadiene styrene rubber (NBR) blended with natural rubber (NR) and vulcanized with sulfur system. The research started with compounding NBR with zinc chloride, ZnCl2 in an internal mixer.

Curing characteristics and elastic recovery of sealants

Building and Environment, 2001
Abstract The curing characteristics of 13 high-performance sealants based on measurements of their elastic recovery is discussed. Sealants examined include one- and two-part polysulphide, one- and two-part polyurethane, and silicone commonly used on building facades.
