Osteoporosis: Current Modes of Prevention and Treatment
Journal of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, 1999The most common metabolic bone disorder is osteoporosis, which affects 25 million Americans, of whom 80% are women. Bone loss in women occurs most commonly after menopause, when the rate of loss may be as high as 2% per year. Bone mass can be determined with dual-energy x-ray absorptiometry.

IEEE International Symposium on Circuits and Systems, 2003
Traditional voltage-feedback amplifier configurations, both discrete and integrated, have always suffered from the severe disadvantage of drastically restricted bandwidth at high gains due to the problem of constant gain-bandwidth product. The author shows how adopting a current-mode approach to a range of amplifier designs based on current conveyors ...

Current-mode threshold logic gates
Proceedings 2000 International Conference on Computer Design, 2002In this paper, we present low-power and high-performance logic gates called the current-mode threshold logic (CMTL) gates. Low-power dissipation is achieved by limiting the voltage swing on the interconnects and the internal nodes of the CMTL gates. High-performance is achieved by the use of transistor configurations that sense a small difference in ...

Linear current-mode ISFET arrays
2016 IEEE International Symposium on Circuits and Systems (ISCAS), 2016This paper investigates ISFET circuits operating in current mode and demonstrates linear pH-to-current operation. The two operating regions that provide linear gate-voltage to drain-current operation are the triode and velocity saturation regions which have been compared with a focus on pH sensing applications. Subsequently, two sensor arrays optimised

A general class of current mode filters
1993 IEEE International Symposium on Circuits and Systems, 2002A new class of nonlinear analog filters with linear input-output response is proposed. These filters are an extension of the recently introduced 'log filter' class. By virtue of the small node voltage excursions, these filters share the current mode characteristic of log filters.

Current-mode analogue median filter
ICECS'99. Proceedings of ICECS '99. 6th IEEE International Conference on Electronics, Circuits and Systems (Cat. No.99EX357), 2003Median filters are very important nonlinear filters, finding many applications in image and speech processing. In recent years analogue implementation of nonlinear filters has gained new interest. In this work, a novel current-mode analogue median filter is proposed.

A Current-Mode ADC with Adaptive Quantization
2005 IEEE International Symposium on Circuits and Systems, 2005The paper presents an analog to digital converter (ADC) targeted for converting current-mode discrete cosine transform (DCT) coefficients to digital bits. The conversion is performed in parallel and the operation is continuous in time. Adaptive quantization is included in the converter to fulfil the demands of several video compression standards.

A current-mode neuro-fuzzy network
1998 IEEE International Conference on Electronics, Circuits and Systems. Surfing the Waves of Science and Technology (Cat. No.98EX196), 2002A new neuro-fuzzy network based on a neural model called Approximate Identity Neural Network (AINN) is presented in this work. The ability of neural networks to learn from examples and the ability of the fuzzy model to code human knowledge can be helpfully joined to create an adaptive fuzzy system.

Voltage-mode filters and especially their linearity and dynamic range suffer from the low supply voltages of deep-sub-micron and nanometer CMOS. This fact served as motivation to investigate current-mode filters with the hope for a better linearity and larger dynamic range. Current-mode filters also may allow saving of current-to-voltage and voltage-to-

New current-mode precision rectifiers
1993 IEEE International Symposium on Circuits and Systems, 2002Current-mode techniques are used to realize improved high-frequency precision full-wave rectifiers (PFWRs). Three alternative topologies are described and compared in performance with the classical operational amplifier (op-amp)/diode PFWR. These are a new op-amp supply current-sensing PFWR, a modified classical op-amp/diode design and a novel current ...
