The newfound relationship between extrachromosomal DNAs and excised signal circles

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Extrachromosomal DNAs (ecDNAs) contribute to the progression of many human cancers. In addition, circular DNA by‐products of V(D)J recombination, excised signal circles (ESCs), have roles in cancer progression but have largely been overlooked. In this Review, we explore the roles of ecDNAs and ESCs in cancer development, and highlight why these ...

Relationship Between Technical and Economic Indicators, Metal Level and Interpole Distance in an Aluminum Electrolyser

open access: yesProceedings of the International Conference on Applied Innovations in IT
The article examines the mechanisms by which key technological operating parameters of aluminum electrolyzers – namely, the metal level and the interelectrode distance – affect the technical and economic performance of the aluminum electrolysis process ...

Optimization of Electrochemical Copper Recovery Process: Effect of the Rotation Speed in Chloride Medium of pH=3

open access: yesInternational Journal of Electrochemical Science, 2015
Potentiostatic copper electrodeposition at a graphite electrode from synthetic 0.05 M copper (II) sulfate solution was studied at pH 3. Sodium chloride was added to increase the conductivity of the solution and catalyze the process.

Cell wall target fragment discovery using a low‐cost, minimal fragment library

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
LoCoFrag100 is a fragment library made up of 100 different compounds. Similarity between the fragments is minimized and 10 different fragments are mixed into a single cocktail, which is soaked to protein crystals. These crystals are analysed by X‐ray crystallography, revealing the binding modes of the bound fragment ligands.

Bioelectrochemically Reductive Dechlorination of Trichloroacetic Acid by Gel Immobilized Hemoglobin on Multiwalled Carbon Nanotubes Modified Graphite Electrode

open access: yesInternational Journal of Electrochemical Science, 2011
A gel immobilized method was used to prepare a sodium alginate/hemoglobin-multiwalled carbon nanotubes-graphite composite electrode (Hb/SA-MWCNT-GE) that provided a surface modification with catalytic properties for dechlorination of trichloroacetic acid

Structural biology of ferritin nanocages

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Ferritin is a conserved iron‐storage protein that sequesters iron as a ferric mineral core within a nanocage, protecting cells from oxidative damage and maintaining iron homeostasis. This review discusses ferritin biology, structure, and function, and highlights recent cryo‐EM studies revealing mechanisms of ferritinophagy, cellular iron uptake, and ...

Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.
