Current research in cavitating fluid films [PDF]

open access: yes
A review of the current research of cavitation in fluid films is presented. Phenomena and experimental observations include gaseous cavitation, vapor cavitation, and gas entrainment. Cavitation in flooded, starved, and dynamically loaded journal bearings,

The Relativistic Rindler Hydrodynamics

open access: yes, 2012
We consider a (d+2)-dimensional class of Lorentzian geometries holographically dual to a relativistic fluid flow in (d+1) dimensions. The fluid is defined on a (d+1)-dimensional time-like surface which is embedded in the (d+2)-dimensional bulk space-time

Characterizing the salivary RNA landscape to identify potential diagnostic, prognostic, and follow‐up biomarkers for breast cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study explores salivary RNA for breast cancer (BC) diagnosis, prognosis, and follow‐up. High‐throughput RNA sequencing identified distinct salivary RNA signatures, including novel transcripts, that differentiate BC from healthy controls, characterize histological and molecular subtypes, and indicate lymph node involvement.

Bridging the gap: Multi‐stakeholder perspectives of molecular diagnostics in oncology

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Although molecular diagnostics is transforming cancer care, implementing novel technologies remains challenging. This study identifies unmet needs and technology requirements through a two‐step stakeholder involvement. Liquid biopsies for monitoring applications and predictive biomarker testing emerge as key unmet needs. Technology requirements vary by

Noncommutative fluid dynamics in the K\"{a}hler parametrization

open access: yes, 2011
In this paper, we propose a first order action functional for a large class of systems that generalize the relativistic perfect fluids in the K\"{a}hler parametrization to noncommutative spacetimes.

Current Research in Fluid Mechanics [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Since Sir James Lighthill wrote the above essay “What is Mechanics?” for the first edition of this book, fluid mechanics, like solid mechanics, has seen remarkably rapid growth and evolution.

Integrated genomic and proteomic profiling reveals insights into chemoradiation resistance in cervical cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
A comprehensive genomic and proteomic analysis of cervical cancer revealed STK11 and STX3 as a potential biomarkers of chemoradiation resistance. Our study demonstrated EGFR as a therapeutic target, paving the way for precision strategies to overcome treatment failure and the DNA repair pathway as a critical mechanism of resistance.

Fluid Therapy in Acute Pancreatitis—Current Knowledge and Future Perspectives

open access: yesPharmaceuticals
Acute pancreatitis (AP) is one of the most frequent diseases requiring hospitalization in gastroenterology or intensive care unit departments. Its incidence and hospitalization rates have steadily increased over the last few years, contributing to high ...

Fluid Dynamics and Viscosity in Strongly Correlated Fluids

open access: yes, 2014
We review the modern view of fluid dynamics as an effective low energy, long wavelength theory of many body systems at finite temperature. We introduce the concept of a nearly perfect fluid, defined by a ratio $\eta/s$ of shear viscosity to entropy ...

Emerging role of ARHGAP29 in melanoma cell phenotype switching

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study gives first insights into the role of ARHGAP29 in malignant melanoma. ARHGAP29 was revealed to be connected to tumor cell plasticity, promoting a mesenchymal‐like, invasive phenotype and driving tumor progression. Further, it modulates cell spreading by influencing RhoA/ROCK signaling and affects SMAD2 activity. Rho GTPase‐activating protein
