Time harmonic eddy currents in non‐linear media
COMPEL - The international journal for computation and mathematics in electrical and electronic engineering, 1998One way to deal with non‐linearity in the case of time harmonic excitation of the electric and magnetic fields in ferromagnetic media is to introduce an effective material to model the ferromagnetic region. This fictitious material is constant throughout a period but inhomogeneous and it takes into account the non‐linear relationship between the field ...

A modified harmonic current vector method for harmonic contribution determination
IEEE PES Power Systems Conference and Exposition, 2004., 2005This paper deals with the determination of customer contributions to harmonic distortion at the point of connection to the utility network. The approach proposed in this paper is derived from the common power factor practice where a load should be fully compensated at the fundamental frequency and therefore seen as resistive from the network.

Modern adjustable-speed, induction motor drives are responsible for contaminating electric networks with undesirable harmonics. Most of the speed controllers developed for induction motors employ a rectifier-inverter arrangement. In this arrangement, the alternating current drawn by the rectifier contains many undesirable harmonics. These harmonics may

Current induced second harmonic generation in semiconductors
Applied Physics Letters, 1995Direct current in semiconductor is theoretically shown to be capable of doubling the frequency of the incoming optical radiation. The second order susceptibility, proportional to the current is calculated to be in the 10−14−10−13 m/V range. Applications of the novel phenomenon in probing and mapping of the current in semiconductor devices are ...

Valuation of harmonic current injections
2002The number of power electronic and distorting loads, continue to grow at a rapid pace. Accompanying this growth in distortion sources is an increased sensitivity of certain types of loads to harmonic distortion, and poor power quality in general. The result is greater variance in the value loads place on a harmonic free supply, and therefore what they ...

Voltage and current harmonics caused by corona
Journal of the American Institute of Electrical Engineers, 1921THE FOLLOWING investigation was made to study the effects of corona in producing voltage and current harmonics in transmission systems. In the early work on corona in 1910 a very complete oscillographic study was made of voltage and current. It was found that the current wave of corona loss very much resembled the excitation current wave of a ...

Harmonic Currents and Canonical Complexes
2001In the present chapter we establish a Hodge theory for the complexes In particular, we prove a decomposition of the spaces which resembles the Hodge decomposition on compact Riemannian manifolds. The method can be explained easily in the classical framework. Let (M,g) be a compact Riemannian manifold with Hodge-Laplacian on p-forms.

Characterizing harmonic currents generated by fluorescent lamps in harmonic domain
IEEE Transactions on Power Delivery, 2003This letter presents a harmonic-domain method for modeling currents generated by the fluorescent lamp with an electromagnetic ballast. Both of the nonlinearities of lamp components and the effect of source voltage distortion on the lamp are taken into account in the proposed model.
