Eddy current sensor simulation
COMPEL - The international journal for computation and mathematics in electrical and electronic engineering, 2017Purpose This paper aims to present a simulation concept and an experimental verification of a novel sensor design for the shaft position measurement based on the eddy current principle and the phase-shift measurement. The simulation method for the sensor characteristic determination is presented.

A hybrid current sensor, consisting of a Hall sensor and a Rogowski coil, is well suitable for wide-bandwidth current sensing. The Hall signal paths for on-chip and off-chip current sensing can be connected to both the open-loop and the closed-loop Rogowski coil sensing.

Current sensor using heterodyne detection
Applied Optics, 1999Based on the Faraday effect for measuring ac current, we describe a fiber-optic sensor that uses laser-diode intensity modulation to perform heterodyne signal detection. The sensor output at the carrier frequency is used as a reference signal to normalize the results.

Hall sensors are used to extend the limited low-frequency range of Rogowski coils towards DC signal currents. A comparison of different symmetrical planar Hall devices shows that the cross-shaped layout achieves the highest sensitivity. Therefore, for on-chip current sensing, a cross-shaped Hall device is placed besides a power line and measures ...

Brillouin fiber optic current sensor
Optical Review, 1996A novel reciprocal Brillouin fiber optic current sensor has been developed and tested. The sensor shows a sensitivity of 126 Hz/A that is very close to the maximum sensitivity obtained by using fibers without linear birefringence. The limitations due to the Kerr effect and optical feedbacks in the system are also investigated.

Vibration-insensitive fiber-optic current sensor
Optics Letters, 1993The measurement of the electric current with an optical fiber sensor can be made insensitive to external vibrations that act on the leading fiber by using a circuit involving a mirrored Faraday rotator and a highly twisted low-birefringence fiber. A description of the optical configuration as well as our first experimental results are presented.

The primary problem in measurement of upper ocean currents is separation of the weak low frequency ‘signal’ from the energetic high frequency ‘noise’ of surface waves and the mooring motion they produce. Overcoming this problem requires either perfectly responsive, although possibly nonlinear, sensors or completely linear sensors, possibly with limited
