The voltage-sensor structure in a voltage-gated channel

Trends in Biochemical Sciences, 2005
A recent electron paramagnetic resonance study of KvAP, a prokaryotic voltage-gated channel, in its lipid native environment has revealed the location of the transmembrane segments, the connecting loops and the relative position of the voltage-sensing charges.

NMDA Receptors as Voltage Sensors

2017
The membrane potential is an essential parameter of a living cell. However, measurements of the membrane potential using conventional techniques are associated with a number of artifacts. Cell-attached recordings of the currents through NMDA receptor channels enable noninvasive measurements of the neuronal membrane potential.

Conserved Voltage Sensor

Science's STKE, 2002
The voltage sensor for the depolarization-activated, Shaker K + channel (Kv) is well characterized as the transmembrane segment S4. In Kv channels, depolarization stimulates the outward movement (more residues of S4 exposed to the extracellular surface), and the channel opens. Männikkö et al.

MEMS sensors for high voltage lines

2013 Proceedings of the European Solid-State Device Research Conference (ESSDERC), 2013
The paper presents the application for the first time, to our knowledge, of MEMS devices in the field of high power, high voltage lines. We show how these devices can be used for measuring instantaneous voltage value in real-life industrial conditions.

A Single Circuit Solution for Voltage Sensors

2005 IEEE International Symposium on Circuits and Systems, 2005
A single circuit solution using MOSFET alone, has been presented for a voltage sensor. The circuit was implemented in a 0.18 /spl mu/m process for an SRAM application. It was designed to have low temperature sensitivity and good process tuning capability.

High-voltage bidirectional current sensor

2017 IEEE 12th International Conference on ASIC (ASICON), 2017
A high-voltage (HV) bidirectional current sensor using fully-differential amplifier (FDA) is designed and analyzed in this investigation. The FDA balances bidirectional input voltages of the HV current sensor by a feedback loop. Thus, the proposed design can detect the direction and magnitude of the current by the difference between the output voltage ...

Kerr Voltage Sensor

SPIE Proceedings, 1986
The electrooptic Kerr effect is the interaction of an applied electric field with a birefringent fluid medium resulting in a change in the refractive index of the fluid. It has found a variety of applications in the measurement of the applied voltage and electric field by analyzing the polarization rotation of light shined through the fluid. Potentials

Optical voltage sensor for MV networks

2017 IEEE SENSORS, 2017
The design and construction of an optical voltage sensor (OVS) for distributed voltage measurements on medium-voltage (MV) networks (11 kV) is presented in this paper. The sensor prototype, comprising a piezoelectric transducer and a fiber Bragg grating (FBG) as a basic optical strain sensing element, is evaluated through laboratory testing and its ...
