Velocity profiles of sea currents
2022Some monitoring surveys were carried out in spring seasons, during March 2003, along the Southern Adriatic coast. A vessel mounted acoustic Doppler current profiler was used to measure the vertical distributions of current velocities in some selected stationing points.

A tilting current meter for low velocity currents
OCEANS '85 - Ocean Engineering and the Environment, 1985A low-cost, uncomplicated current meter with enhanced dynamic range and low speed accuracy has been developed from earlier, now discontinued, film recording instruments. Appropriate for arrays or where capital is limited, it is particularly applicable where data entry labor is inexpensive.

Velocity Profiling in Strong Ocean Currents
Offshore Technology Conference, 1984ABSTRACT Surveys of the velocity structure in high-speed ocean currents are being conducted utilizing the expendable current profiler (XCP). Profiles are obtained at sea from the surface to 1500 meters depth in real time from aircraft, ships, and stationary platforms. Horizon Marine has conducted surveys in the Gulf

Current equations for velocity overshoot
IEEE Electron Device Letters, 1982A generalized current equation is presented for the operation of submicron devices by supplementing the drift and diffusion currents with gradient, rate and relaxation currents. The equation includes the most important features of velocity overshoot.

Velocity distribution characteristics of counter-current jets
Proceedings of the Institution of Civil Engineers - Water Management, 2023A counter-current jet (CCJ) is significantly different from a classical jump – it is like a classical jump with a reverse surface jet layer above it. A series of experiments, with the jet's Froude number in the range 4–10, was conducted to investigate the velocity distribution characteristics of CCJs.

Uncertainties in seasonde current velocities
Proceedings of the IEEE/OES Seventh Working Conference on Current Measurement Technology, 2003., 2004This paper describes the methods used to derive uncertainties in SeaSonde radial and total velocity vectors. Studies of baseline deviations are used to illustrate/validate the results. Recommendations are made for further work leading to reduction of the uncertainties.

Streamwise velocity profiles in coastal currents
Environmental Fluid Mechanics, 2014The ability to model marine currents can be a powerful device for many planning activities, for which the knowledge of the velocity field is of pivotal importance, such as the evaluation of current-induced loading on maritime structures or the diffusion and dispersion of polluted flow discharges.
