Velocity distribution in combined wave–current flows

Advances in Water Resources, 2006
Abstract This paper investigates why the measured velocity profiles in combined wave–current flows deviate from the log-law. Most of previous researchers attributed the velocity deviation to the wave Reynolds stress— ρ u ˜ v ˜ ¯ only. However, this study shows that both the wave Reynolds stress and the momentum u

Influence of current velocity on periphyton distribution

1983
Current velocities were measured close to different periphyton elements in rivers. The results indicate that several algal species have a defined niche within the current velocity spectrum, while other species can inhabit a very broad range of current velocities.

Direct velocity measurements in the Malvinas Current

Journal of Geophysical Research: Oceans, 1999
We present a set of current meter measurements collected in the southwest Atlantic from December 1993 to June 1995. Four moorings were set out to monitor the Malvinas (Falkland) Current at 40°–41°S, and one mooring was located within the Brazil‐Malvinas Front area at 38°S.

Motional current velocity control of piezoelectric loads

The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 2012
It is well known that acoustic interactions affect the transmit radiation pattern of a SONAR array, particularly when the element spacing is small relative to the acoustic wavelength. A negative feedback system with a velocity sense signal fed back to the power amplifier is one method of mitigating the array interactions, and has significant advantages

Multidimensional augmented current equation including velocity overshoot

IEEE Electron Device Letters, 1991
The augmented drift-diffusion current equation, which includes velocity overshoot effects through the space derivatives of the electric field, cannot be directly extended beyond one dimension. A new formalism is developed which considers the carrier heating and the distribution relaxation effects to obtain a multidimensional augmented drift diffusion ...

Coilgun Velocity Optimization With Current Switch Circuit

IEEE Transactions on Plasma Science, 2017
An inductive coil gun is a solenoid surrounding a cylindrical metallic armature (the projectile), both electromagnetically coupled. One or more capacitors discharge a stored voltage quickly through the coil, configuring a kind of RLC circuit, with the pulse-shaped current generating a magnetic field inside the coil that accelerates the projectile. Once

A current statistical model adopted velocity measurement

2011 International Conference on Computer Science and Service System (CSSS), 2011
In order to track maneuvering target in three-dimensional space fast and accurately, aiming at the radar system which can detect radial and angular velocity, a new target tracking algorithm in the three-dimensional space based on the current statistical algorithm(CS) is presented up, which uses the radial velocity and angular velocity.

Convection velocity in a direct current arc

Physica, 1946
Summary The convection velocity of the gas in the centre of a vertical direct current arc has been determined by measuring the velocity of small carbon particles carried along. These sparks have been photographed with intervals of 1/250 sec. From the mean velocity of the sparks during these intervals we derived the velocity of the gas which turned ...

Investigation on coastal current velocities: numerical simulations and velocity profile laws

2012
Velocity data, undertaken during a survey carried out in March 2010, offshore the coast of Bari (located on the Adriatic Sea in Southern Italy), are analysed and discussed in the present paper. Measurements were acquired by means of a Vessel Mounted Acoustic Doppler Velocity Profiler (VM-ADCP).
