An Optical Fiber Sensor for Oriented Bending Based on Eccentric UV Exposure

open access: yesXibei Gongye Daxue Xuebao, 2020
The optical fiber sensor for oriented bending based on eccentric UV exposure is fabricated. With the eccentric UV exposure on the ready-made Michelson interference fiber structure, the optical sensor gives the oriented bending characteristics by changing

Bending Direction Detective Fiber Sensor for Dual-Parameter Sensing Based on an Asymmetrical Thin-Core Long-Period Fiber Grating

open access: yesIEEE Photonics Journal, 2016
An asymmetrical thin-core long-period fiber grating (ATC-LPFG) cascaded with an inline Mach–Zehnder interferometer (MZI) for dual-parameter sensing has been demonstrated. In addition, bending direction is also determined at the same time.

Thermal Characteristics of Positive Leaders under Different Electrode Terminals in a Long Air Gap

open access: yesEnergies, 2019
The thermal characteristics of the positive leader discharges occurring under the different electrode terminals in a 1 m rod-plate air gap were studied quantitatively using Mach−Zehnder interferometry and a high-speed video camera.

Light in curved two-dimensional space

open access: yesAdvances in Physics: X, 2020
The extrinsic and intrinsic curvature of a two-dimensional waveguide influences wave propagation therein. While this can already be apprehended from a geometric point of view in terms of geodesics generalizing straight lines as the shortest distance ...

QUANTUM INTERFERENCE TO MEASURE SPACETIME CURVATURE: A PROPOSED EXPERIMENT AT THE INTERSECTION OF QUANTUM MECHANICS AND GENERAL RELATIVITY [PDF]

open access: yesInternational Journal of Modern Physics D, 2003
An experiment in Low Earth Orbit (LEO) is proposed to measure components of the Riemann curvature tensor using atom interferometry. We show that the difference in the quantum phase Δϕ of an atom that can travel along two intersecting geodesics is given by mR0i0j/ℏ times the spacetime volume contained within the geodesics.

Venetoclax‐Based Therapy as a Bridge to Hematopoietic Stem Cell Transplantation in Relapsed or Refractory Pediatric Acute Leukemia

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Relapsed and/or refractory (R/R) pediatric acute leukemia carries a dismal prognosis, largely driven by chemoresistance to conventional salvage therapy. The BH3‐mimetic venetoclax, combined with chemotherapy or hypomethylating agents, has demonstrated efficacy in small clinical trials.

Three-Dimensional Curve Reconstruction Based on Material Frame and Twisted Multicore Fiber

open access: yesIEEE Photonics Journal, 2022
We propose a curve reconstruction model based on material frame and twisted multicore fiber (MCF), which can reconstruct the position and orientation of MCF simultaneously.

Impact of Initial Treatment Setting on Survival in Relapsed Pediatric and AYA Bone Sarcomas: A Secondary Analysis of a Prospective Clinical Trial

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Outcomes in relapsed or refractory pediatric and AYA bone sarcomas remain poor, and the impact of early referral to specialized sarcoma centers on survival is unclear. Early centralization of care may improve local and systemic treatment quality, but evidence in this population is limited.

A Curvature-Based Multidirectional Local Contrast Method for Star Detection of a Star Sensor

open access: yesPhotonics, 2021
Stray light, such as sunlight, moonlight, and earth-atmosphere light, can bring about light spots in backgrounds, and it affects the star detection of star sensors.
