A critical point for bifurcation cascades and featureless turbulence
In this Letter we show that a bifurcation cascade and fully sustained turbulence can share the phase space of a fluid flow system, resulting in the presence of competing stable attractors.

On the use of mode shape curvatures for damage localization under varying environmental conditions
A novel damage localization method is introduced in this study, which exploits mode shape curvatures as damage features, while accounting for operational variability.

On submanifolds whose tubular hypersurfaces have constant mean curvatures [PDF]
Motivated by the theory of isoparametric hypersurfaces, we study submanifolds whose tubular hypersurfaces have some constant "higher order mean curvatures". Here a $k$-th order mean curvature $Q_k$ ($k\geq1$) of a hypersurface $M^n$ is defined as the $k$-

Controlling Gaussian and mean curvatures at microscale by sublimation and condensation of smectic liquid crystals [PDF]
Soft materials with layered structure such as membranes, block copolymers and smectics exhibit intriguing morphologies with nontrivial curvatures. Here, we report restructuring the Gaussian and mean curvatures of smectic A films with free surface in the ...

ABSTRACT We sought to identify potential early risk biomarkers for lung disease in children post‐allogeneic HCT. Patients with pulmonary function tests 3 months post‐transplant and plasma samples between days 7 and 14 post‐HCT were included. Six of 27 subjects enrolled had reduced forced expiratory volume 1 (FEV1) z scores.

Extrinsic curvatures of distributions of arbitrary codimension
In this article, using the generalized Newton transformation, we define higher order mean curvatures of distributions of arbitrary codimension and we show that they agree with the ones from Brito and Naveira (Ann. Global Anal. Geom.

Nonnegative Curvature on Piecewise Constant Curvature Spaces [PDF]
We consider piecewise flat and piecewise spherical spaces. We prove that every piecewise flat cobordism which is a product near the boundary and has nonnegative curvature must be trivial in the metric sense. We also obtain several restrictions for piecewise p p -spherical manifolds with nonnegative curvature and diameter equal to
